cloth nappy for nearly dry at night toddler

Is there such a thing. I used to use cloth, then went on to pullups for a couple of weeks whilst potty training and have got into the habit of using pull ups at night. DD is dry proably 5 nights out of 7 and I think on the days she is not, she wakes up early having weed in her nappy.

I would like a cloth pull up for nighttime if there is such a thing? I hate using disposables, especially as she is bearly wetting them.

I looked for a bit and gave up, all I could find were pants with a thicker, slightly more absorbent lining. Its really annoying because DS was taking himself to the toilet at night so needed to be able to do his own pants...I ended up sticking to pull ups, although he has now declared no nappies at all. We have varied success.

If you do find anything, I'd be very interested.

Couldn't you just go for it if she is dry 5 nights out of 7?

Minki yo yo's are pull up cloth nappies HTH

We were having similar numbers of dry to wet nights, then DD (only a 4 days ago) insisted on no nappy. I was nervous, but put the waterproof sheet on and left her to it. Total success so far though she does wake me up between 5 and 6 for a wee. She has a potty in her room, so we are trying to practice going by herself - but I'm just so chuffed to have left nappies behind that I don't mind, especially as she goes back to sleep afterwards.

So maybe give it a go - I think they are aware when they have a nappy on or not.

They are great 4andnotout have you used them for your DCs?

I agree with Lionstar, give it a go. At worst you will be washing sheets twice a week. Something like this can reduce the amount of washing too.

GColdtimer · 02/02/2009 20:35

Thanks 4andnotout - they look good. Although perhaps I will think about risking it and go to no nappy. Just seems like a bit step!

Hi i have no personal experiance of the yo yo as 2 of my dd's were dry at night from day 1 of training, but i have used minki nappies and as you can stuff them with as much padding as needed they are very reliable.

GColdtimer · 02/02/2009 20:37

I think one thing that is stopping me is that she is only 2.9 and it just feels too young to be putting her to bed without a nappy. That's just sill though isn't it?

DS1 asked to take his night nappy off at 2.4 - we were unsure because we had just had DS2 but went with it and it worked.

Yes we were changing sheets sometimes 3 times a week (sometimes none) for a few weeks, but the upside was that he was dry at night reliably very early.

Only one in nappies at a time

I would definitely go for it.

HaventSleptForAYear · 02/02/2009 20:42

BTW several of my friends' 4.5 year olds are still in night nappies

I am glad to have had a few weeks of extra washing and then 2 years without nappies!!!

4andnotout · 02/02/2009 20:42

I think dd1 was 2.6 and dd2 was 2.8, i was really lucky and both were dry day and night within a week, i partly put it down to using cloth as they can judge when they are wet. Hoping dd3 &dd4 will be as easy when it's their turns!

GColdtimer · 02/02/2009 20:47

Oh well then, in that case, I will go for it - thank you, you have saved me money

By the way, stupid question here. Do they wear knickers/pants as well as their pjs or just pjs?

OP posts:
4andnotout · 02/02/2009 20:49

Mine just wear pj's to let their bits get a bit of fresh air

Lionstar · 02/02/2009 21:32

My DD is only 23 months, it's more to do with when they are ready.

Mung · 02/02/2009 21:46

DS insists on wearing pants at the moment, as that what he deems the 'big boy' thing to do. I am working on him just wearing PJs to air his bits like 4andnotout's DCs.

GColdtimer · 02/02/2009 22:37

Thanks - tomorrow we bin the nappies and let DD get some fresh air!

Lionstar - I think it is because my niece, whilst being dry for about 18 months still has a night nappy at the age of 4.5 because my SIL still thinks she is going to wet the bed
