Childminder has said ds (nearly five) has been very rude to her this week, with a lot of attitude and defiance.

Today she phoned to say teacher took her to one side (with my permission) and said ds has been very rude and not himself, what's going on at home. CM said nothing, as nothing is.

Ds apparently was rude and defiant the highlight of which was climbing on a table at lunch refusing to get down being rude. Teacher made him write an apology letter to dinner lady.

How should I treat him when I pick him up?

How should I target this behaviour? He is normally an angel. However his sister (2.5) is very rude and defiant although doesn't get away with it. How can we tackle it as a family.

Excuse typing in hurry!

Blimey. Um, I'd start with a stern talking-to. But also try to find out if anything is making him feel sad or angry.

Could he be sickening for something? Does he have a friend whose behaviour he's copying?

I don't want to be very cross as such. I'm trying to tackle my own behaviour (I'm a bit shouty at the moment with tiredness, not horrid or punishing to them, but a bit shouty and less patience than usual)

However I doubt my voice up a couple of decibels recently could cause this...

He is normally soooo well behaved. Especially to other adults. And women

CM asked him a few well worded 'are you happy' type questions and it was a resounding yes, as always. He's a very chilled child.

I'm wondering about copying as he came home shouting 'penis' one day, not entirely sure if he knew what he meant, and he mentioned another boy saying it.

Dh said he was a bit poorly last night, but still he's been all sorts of ill before.

Either way, I don't know. If he was copying I don't think teacher would have mentioned it as she'd know, she's quite quick at picking up on things.
