Do you go to them or wait until they moan to get out of bed? Just wondering?

Depends what I need to do. If we're going out then I'd get them up... if not leave them for a while.

Its good for them to feel happy with their own company.

Bramshott · 26/01/2009 14:52

I sigh a huge sigh of relief and dive into the shower!

We leave DC3 and enjoy an extra bit of time in bed

Leave her to it until she starts complaining, or until it's time to get up and get going.

HensMum · 26/01/2009 15:08

Depends what time it is. If we need to get up and ready for work/nursery then I'll get him up straight away. If it's early or the weekend, I'll turn the monitor down and leave him as long as possible so I can doze.

Join in lol - but we have a bedside cot set up thingy. Or just go back to sleep and be happy that he is happy.

PeppermintPatty · 26/01/2009 16:42

It never happens

ohdearwhatamess · 26/01/2009 16:49

I wait until ds2 starts grumbling in the morning. With lunchtime naps I go in after he's been awake for a few minutes, but before he starts whinging.

I think it is good for them to spend time happily entertaining themselves.

chloejessmeg · 27/01/2009 11:58

I am glad I am not the only one who gets tempted to stay in bed while they are happy then!

if its the pm nap i go straight in same if its a reasonable am hour - if it isnt and before 7am i grab another ten mins before he starts getting tetchy.

MrsTittleMouse · 27/01/2009 12:04

It doesn't happen very often and we milk it for all it's worth! I wouldn't wait until she moaned though - she'll shout out for Daddy and we go to her pretty quickly.

Disclaimer - I had SPD during my latest pregnancy and couldn't lift her out easily, so DD1 and DH got into the habit of getting up together. I'm not too keen to change the arrangement though.

Alibear1 · 27/01/2009 12:09

I leave DS if he is happy, think it's really important that he learns to be content in there on his own. It's obviously working - yesterday I went in to check on him during his lunchtime nap, he'd been down for an hour and a half which is long for him. He was wide awake and studying his own hands very seriously, quiet as a mouse! If I hadn't gone in I think he would have stayed like that.

likessleep · 27/01/2009 13:10

i agree, we enjoy a few moments shut eye if ds is happy after waking.
however, i do think it is sometimes good to go in when they are in this happy mood. then they don't associate crying with getting attention, if that makes sense?

chloejessmeg · 27/01/2009 13:22

I don't wait until she "cries" more like she is "asking to come out" In her own little way.

What about if you put them to bed and they are playing, or you are not sure if they are going to sleep, but they are not crying? Do you leave them in the hope they will eventually go to sleep?

I leave her to play. She is playing now, after waking from her nap. I can hear her giggling.

camgirl · 28/01/2009 21:37

I also wait until he calls me. I can hear him playing quite intently on his own for a while through the monitor - he sounds so into whatever he is doing I prefer to leave him to it! He calls soon enough when he gets bored.
