Need to buy new clothes for DS, 4 months today but ooutgrown all his 3-6 months clothes.

Who does the best trousers to fit over real nappies?

Or does anyone have a good pattern to make some?

Thanks

H&M are pretty wide cut in the crotch!
Avoid primark they are pretty skinny.
Next dungarees I remember where good.

Generally I think I just got a size bigger where necessary and turned them up at the bottom. As the child grows and the nappy is less bulky in comparison this is less of a problem.

yes to all of the above

and keep an eye on the summer clothes ranges coming out - cropped trousers in 9-12m will fit round the bum but not be too long in the leg

there' always Frugi if you have the budget - their basic drawstring trous are great (this seems to be the closest they have atm) Grab some of the sale long-sleeved vests while you are at it for under dungarees, or as a doubel layer under a s/s top

I always found my kids could wear the correct size clothes for their age (and they are taller than average) from TU at sainsbury's.

In find Baby Gap way too narrow for chubby babas (DS1 was quite chubby until about 7/8 months when he started to crawl) never mind cloth bums too! They wouldn't go anywhere near.

Next always seem to be fine. Mum sometimes gets stuff from Primark if the legs can roll up and fasten up iyswim. Sainsbo's are pretty good.

H&M trousers I always found fab as they have adjustable waists, so can fit to all kinds of nappies. They were a godsend in the crossover period of potty training when DD sometimes had a nappy and sometimes pants.

Frugi - welovefrugi.com - got a sale on now too.

Astrophe · 27/01/2009 02:11

I totally agree with Frugi - the sale is great at the mo and the quality is just gorgeous.

Thanks all, a trip to H&M it is then. And some body suits from Frugi. (budget won't allow any of their other lovely things I'm afraid...)

And I would never have thought of Sainsburies. Thanks for that tip too.

Found Sainsbury's Tu range good when ds was small.
