Ds refuses to use Nursery Potty but fine at home

Ds is 2.3, we have been potty training for a few weeks. He has been really good at home except for a few accidents. He asks for the potty and will even take his dry nappy off in the morning and use the potty.

However at nursery he refuses to use the potty and will wet himeself every time. They will not keep the potty around as I do at home and the toilet area has a gate across it so he cannot just go off as he would do at home.

I am at a loss to know what to do as it is upsetting him at nursery and cries everytime.
Any advice is much appreciated

My daughter was the same, I think she found the whole experience a bit intimidating at nursery - complete with audience of older kids coming in to use the loos (they have a seperate room for nappies/potties/loos). She would sometimes sit on their potty, but not 'perform'. Anyway she was pretty much dry during the day at home for a couple of months before she decided that the nursery potty was OK and immediately went to being 100% dry during the day at home, nursery and out-and-about (she started using adult loos at the same time). So I would say just let him do it in his own good time, toilet training is not something you can force othrwise it will just give him unhappy associations. Send him to nursery in nappies, and ask them to offer the potty at each nappy change - he will get there eventually.

My nursery always had them in easy reach but dd also refused to use theirs. We took in ours from home and she was quite happy to use it then.

I agree with the wait until he's ready rather than push it too hard. He's still really young - if it is going well at home nursery will click too.

have you spoken to nursery about your concerns and that you are pt your ds?

teachers need to take/ask for try every hour or so if he is almost done

i think some nurseries cant have potties around as of health and safety/guidlines etc, unlike we have none at home

can you take in a potty from home that he can use, maybe pick a special one in a shop etc?
