getting back teeth?

What age do they get them from? DD has been having sleeping and eating problems and we keep thinking she is teething but it isn't going away, has been weeks - with good days and bad days.

She is 12 months - could it be a back tooth coming through? How long do they take? She usually was only in pain for a day or 2 with the front ones so not usually this bad. She is so tired, she wants to go to sleep, but something is definatly hurting her and keeping her awake.

Any recomendations? She has had teething powder, teething gel (although not sure any of it gets on the back of her gums), and about 20 mins ago she had neofen but is still screaming - any ideas? She is getting in her cot and wants to sleep - sucks thumb and cuddles confort toy etc but then is screaming 2 mins later. Have had quite a few posts recently about her sleeping and also biting but still haven't really solved anythinG?

Could be - DD had 2 molars at 13 months and all of them by 2. Neurofen, teething gel and cucumber to munch on is what we used. HOWEVER it may be an ear infection as the symptoms can be identical. Have a look in her ears for redness and watch for fever.

She doesn't have a fever, and usually gets one quite easily (has been well into the 100s just from teething).

Might get her ears checked as I think the doctor should check her cough anyway that she has had for ages. (This isn't what is keeping her awake).

Try freezing a wet flannel and giving it her to gnaw on - if it's molars this really can help. But if she's had an underlying cold for a while she maybe has some sinus pain pressing on her nerves in her jaw which will make any teething pain ten times worse. So perhaps a decongestent (I am loathe to suggest it but have you tried Medised - I gave it to DD one night, it didn't knock her out in any way - quite the opposite - but it did however make her pain disappear quite remarkably!)

DS 12 months last two molars are coming through and they're much worse than the other teeth. he's been in our bed for 3 nights as we couldn't deal with getting up every half hour. We're all totally sleep deprived but hoping hte worst is over. frozen flannels never worked for us but homeopathic teething stuff does. good luck!
