What reusable XL nappies for toddler

DS1 is 3 and is almost out of his Motherease Multifit and One Size which he wears at night. I'm putting two of the large boosters in and they are just not containing the wee any more so I think we need to move up (we've recently got new wraps, so I don't think it's that).

But what to? I know ME make a toddlease nappy, but are there any others on the market now?

All advice gratefully received. Thank you.

Tots Bots size 3 nappies are really generous in size and contain a lot of wee too! And can always be boosted with a microfibre insert if you need a bit more.

Ta rachel for this.

Has anyone used Ella's House extra large Hemp nappies?

Easy Peasy bumbles are really big and can be boosted to hearts content! They were the only nappy that coped with my huge 2.5 power weeing dd

you could also boost between nappy and wrap if there's room, maybe with hemp or bamboo?

DS is 2.8, and wears either a Minki XL stuffed with a terry, or a large FuzziBunz with a double hemp insert and a microfibre insert

did you find the xl minki big enough? we had to ditch ours at 9 months as it would not do up around little miss fatty.

trufflebum: was it a Slinki Minki (where the tabs are square and don't meet) or a Standard Minki (with rounded tabs, which over-lap/wrap over each other). I've got a Standard Minki in XL and it is very big indeed - I think it would nearly fit a 4-5yo (depending on build, of course). But it's a good sized nappy. One thing I've found with Minkis is that they can vary a lot - I've had several large ones that just didn't fit properly (too tight/tense elastic on legs etc) and yet had large ones that were plenty roomy. So might be the particular one you had, rather than all XL being that way. Just an idea!

It was a huggle I think, where the poppers crossed onto the other tab with an opening at the back, inside fleece, outside terry and a long flappy tongue bit that stuffed in and out. It was a beautiful nappy and yes I agree it could just have been that one which was small. There are sevearal different people making them not just one and each sews their own way. I absolutely adored it and kept it anyway the stuffing pocket was so big it could accommodate an awful lot of padding and while it did fit it was perfect for nights. I would still recommend one for a heavy wetter but being a bit wiser now to the differences in sizes I think I would ask the seller to measure the one coming my way to be sure.

Ah right, a fitted one. It's mainly the fleece pockets I've had (which I like to stuff with bamboo prefolds). However, my little boy is wearing cotton pyjamas now because of eczema problems, and the fleece pockets only seemed to work for us when he was in fleece pjs (otherwise wicking & damp clothes)...so can't wear them at the moment, unfortunately. I really miss them tho. They worked fine for my daughter regardless of what she was wearing, but my little boy is a heavy wetter and a tummy sleeper, so have to be careful what he wears!

trufflebum · 22/01/2009 23:24

if he's a front sleeper you could try turning whichever nappy / wrap you use around so the elastic keeps it snug across the tummy?
