Where do you do the nappy changing?

There was a thread on this subject a couple of days ago, but it's disappeared, which is a pity, because I wanted to throw in my two pennies worth. A lot of my friends tend to change nappies when it needs doing wherever their at, but I like to do it in one place, and not to have nappy gear all over the place. Someone gave us what I think is more like a computer desk/table, with drawers down one side, about my waist height, which I use for the job. We have it in the smallest of our bedrooms upstairs, and close to the bathroom. I put a changing mat or large bath towel on top, and have everything I need to hand. I don't have to kneel down, and it's better for my back ache. You also have better control over wriggling DC!

My changing station is the dining table. We have a changing mat on there, and all the nappy stuff close to hand.

When I only had 1 in nappies (pfb) we always changed it in his bedroom on the cot top changer.

Since dd1 was born I have always had 2 in nappies (first ds and dd1, now dd1 and dd2) so now I just change the nappies in the lounge as it is easier. Most of my friends do the same.

I always change flossy on my lap - i did with boyo too. Can't be arsed fiddling with the whole changeing mat/station thingy, even though she wriggles and squirms it's quicker and easier to do on my lap. Have even mastered the art of nappy changing and breastfeeding at the same time....

Upstairs in the bedroom or in the dowstairs bathroom - both have nappy changing stations set up.

notnowbernard. My wriggly DS1 is 3 next month, and still in nappies. My desk/table is an ideal unit for changing his nappy, because being higher up he can't escape!

Deemented - am seriously impressed at your ability to multitask

Jeanie - you are brave to contemplate heights with a nearly 3 yr old

on my lap in the lounge. - for a wriggly 8 month old and an even wrigglier 26 month old.

On the lounge floor, it is easier than going upstairs when either of my DSes need changing.

I've always changed DS downstairs on the floor. I bought a basket with handle and kept all the gear in that, so it was easy to move around the house if I needed to. Call it my mobile changing station if you like.

I decided to change him downstairs so I could take the nappies directly out to the bin without getting distracted by something else. When DS got a little older and more mobile this turned out to be a good idea.

We did buy one of those chest of drawer things that is also a changing table, but it was always covered in ironing so no good, really.

With ds1 I was very precious about it all and had changing mats, towels, nappies, sacks, wipes, sudocre, etc in lots of different rooms so they were always to hand and the poor darling could be de-pooed instantly.

That has all gone by the wayside. Ds2 gets changed on the sitting room floor (unless we happen to be in his room when he needs doing) and the mats and towels have gone (got fed up of all the clutter). I find it easier to bring the bits to him rather than carry him around.
