My dd2 is 16 months, she only has 3 teeth and am stuck for what snacks to give her, I am worried that she might not be able to cope with certain snacks ..even raisins, dried apricots ..healthy snacks..

she just has things like biscuits, toast.. I have tried steamed carrots but she wouldn't touch them as they were slimey ish...

what would you advise please?

I make cheese straws for dd, 12 months. Really easy to make and she loves them. Not full of crap too!

Everything banana says
My ds likes bananas, strawberries, grapes, kiwi, cucumber, carrots
We also like fruit bars like Humzingers and organix brand things like carrot sticks, onion rings, tomato shapes (all in crisp like form)

I gave her cheese today and she liked that.

she does have breadsticks

and I will try pepper and cucumber thank you

The only thing with rice cakes is my ds used to have a little trouble with them at this age, he used to choke on them so it has scared me a little.

which fruit though? she hasn't teeth to cope with banana, apple

someone suggested banana chips but aren't they full of sugar?!

Thank you

She doesn't need teeth for banana and apple, nor for peach, kiwi, pear, halved grapes, orange segments (oranges yummy atm) etc.

If she has no teeth you will find that her gums are exceptionally strong.

I would also add salad bits of all kinds, pasta salad, grated carrot, avocado.

Banana's are quite mushy though aren't they? I used to cut them up into smaller slices at first

DS is 13 months, has 4 teeth, and will eat anything. Admittedly some things come straight out the other end almost untouched (had a nappy the other night that was pure spaghetti bolognese, only without the spaghetti!).

Try giving her steamed tenderstem broccoli - I know it sounds a bit poncy, but this is what really got DS going - it's dead easy to eat, and fairly tasty.

milsna · 19/01/2009 22:31

ok I will try her, I am so scared of her choking though!

I will try a few different bits tomorrow, and see, she will prob love them! lol

thank you

I don't give my ds (17m) pears anymore because he has trouble with the skin, he always manages to sort it out himself though. I started giving him finger foods at about 9 months which was befor he had any teeth, and although some things were tricky he did enjoy carrots and apple and other foods that I thought were too hard.
Clary's right, those gums are quite hard
Good luck tomorrow

My dd is 9 months with only 2 teeth but chews away on all fruit, both fresh and dried (apricots are a fave here)...if your dd can eat biscuits and breadsticks then she'll be fine with fruit. You could try making ice lollies from pureed fruit ...although I realize it's not a practical solution when out and about.
