I dont mean as in a pub stool by the way!!!

I have just brought new stools for my kitchen breakfast bar and DD 6yrs I can trust on them but not sure about 2.5yr old. I put the highchair up to the bar today but she is abit low and not sure if this is safe for her to sit at on a stool, what do you all think?

She sat for a minute or so earlier and was fine!

No. They are too unstable and wobbley. She may have a problem getting down and fall.

tassisssss · 19/01/2009 20:26

I would, yes!

My ds sits on the work surface to watch me cook etc, and would be more than happy to sit him on a stool.

IMO it depends on each and every child. DD has no sense of danger and at 4 yo still manages to fall off a normal dining chair on occasion

Mumsnut · 19/01/2009 20:28

I use a Chicco hook-on chair at the breakfast bar. Works really well.

RiaParkinson · 19/01/2009 20:28

yes ds has been on one since we moved here pretty much and that was under 2

he rawls around on it but never falls!

LaDiDaDi · 19/01/2009 20:29

My dd of a similar age sits on them all the time. She pushes them around the kitchen then climbs up to get what she wants or watch and "help" me cook.

No problems.

nickytamoshantertwotimes · 19/01/2009 20:30

Damn it! I was going to say "only if he pays for the drinks!".
Harumph.

RiaParkinson · 19/01/2009 20:30

ladidadi yes ds drags one around to sit up and stare at the ipod ) a favoured occupaion of his!)

Stinkyfeet · 19/01/2009 20:30

Depends on the child and the flooring! Carpet, probably yes. Granite tiles, probably no! Although I'm hoping guessing not carpet as it's your kitchen!

2pt4kids · 19/01/2009 20:30

i would

npg1 · 19/01/2009 21:00

wooden floor. Maybe I should try it and see what she's like with me close by her side, im sure she would be ok. I dont really want the massive highchair there all the time!

No, my three year old wouldn't be able to stay on one of those for long!

milsna · 19/01/2009 22:18

I would prob sit her on it with you there doing a puzzle with her or something, but wouldn't leave her unoccupied.

Yes, although I'd expect them to fall off a few times.

I'd find it near impossible to stop my ds (2.8) climbing onto one (he drags chairs, stools, ladders around to get at whatever he wants - the more dangerous the better ).

Madmentalbint · 20/01/2009 10:18

Depends on the stool and the surroundings. I have breakfast bar stools with twisty seats. I don't like my niece (2.5) to sit on them as we have hard flooring and granite worktops. I'd be happier if the stool seats didn't swing round.

Gorionine · 20/01/2009 10:21

I would if I am near enough to catch an eventual fall.
