Has anyone got these or know anything about them? I am seriously tempted by them as they seem to be all-in-one nappies, and I am a bit sick of stuffing multiple inserts in my ds's otherwise excellent Bumgenius every other evening. But are they really really all-in-one, i.e. can you put them in the wash and dry them without taking anything apart? Are there other cloth nappies like that?

I have used them, I had the pop-in ones where the inserts and boosters popper onto the main nappy, no stuffing needed you just clip them in place.

JimmyMcNulty · 16/01/2009 20:55

Thanks Sharky. So once they are poppered in you don't have to un-popper them to wash/dry?

OP posts:
sharkyandgeorge · 16/01/2009 20:57

Well I suppose you wouldn't have to no, I did, but they could be washed all poppered into place I think.

I un popper mine. I think they would take longer to dry if you didn't.
I love mine; tis nice and cuddly and pretty absorbent to. It looks teeny weeny though, becasue it is low rise.

2pt4kids · 16/01/2009 20:59

I use them and wash and dry them as they are. The odd attachment comes off in the spin cycle but not very often!
You do have to fold the poppered in bits into the right place before putting on though, which takes almost as long as stuffing the insert into a bumgenius! (I've got both sorts!)

JimmyMcNulty · 16/01/2009 21:05

That's not so bad. It's the sorting out that takes me the time at the moment. In each one I use one of the proper Bumgenius inserts and a booster from my old Bumbles as they are thicker than the Bumgenius boosters and ds is a heavy wetter. And at night he wears Bumbles with a poppered insert plus 3 of the thin Bumgenius boosters!

I should probably have titled this thread 'Does anyone make nappies for extremely lazy parents?'

I'v found the bumgenius (with just one normal insert) to be slightly more absorbant that the itti's as they are tbh. If you need all that boosting in a bumgenius you're gonna need extra inserts in the itti too I'd imagine.

What size are your bumgenius's? If large then I'd do a swap with you for one of my ittis so you can try it out? I wouldnt mind another bumgenius as I've only got a couple atm...

ilovelovemydog · 16/01/2009 21:22

try the general chat thread as there are a few fans (ok, only one)

JimmyMcNulty · 16/01/2009 21:25

Ooh that sounds tempting... the Bumgenius are one size though (aren't they?). If not I must have the large as ds 2.5 and over 13kgs now.

My Bumgenius are the 2.0 light blue ones.

OP posts:
2pt4kids · 16/01/2009 21:29

yes you are right, they are one size - its the itti ones that i have large in.
My ds is 11 months and is in the large, they come up small i think. They will be quite low rise on your DS.
My bumgenius is the new one that replaced the 2.0 - is there much difference do you know?

JimmyMcNulty · 16/01/2009 21:41

The 3.0s are apparently easier to stuff (wider opening) and the velcro is improved, not sure how. Oh, and the 2.0 doesn't have the extra bit of coloured waterproof material that the 3.0 has on the inside top front bit (I assume to make it less likely to wick out the top).

swampster · 16/01/2009 21:46

BumGenius do one-size stuffie nappies and all-in-one sized nappies (sorry, US site). But that's got to be your ultimate nappy, no?

I love Itti Bittis but they don't sound like your solution!

JimmyMcNulty · 16/01/2009 22:03

Thanks swampster, can't think how I was unaware of their existence! I'd still quite like to try an Itti Bitti 2pt4 (understand if you don't want a 2.0 though).

Lizzies real nappies website sells the bumgenius sized all in one nappies - not sure of other british sites that do.

swampster · 16/01/2009 23:24

DAMN YOU, Jimmy! I have resisted up till now! I have one-size BGs and love them. Now I think I NEED some sized ones!

lollipopmother · 17/01/2009 10:56

I have a lot of these now as they fit my DD really nicely. They are expensive but you can buy extra snap-in boosters so if it's just a wet nappy you can swap the boosters and keep the outer, which makes it far more economical. They are short in the rise though so may not fit all babies. My DD is a skinny mini and they are beautiful on her so far because everything else tends to give her a J-Lo bum!

You could wash without un-snapping the boosters that'd be no problem, although it's easy enough to just snap them back on again. I would personally buy 2nd hand first, the normal price is £10.

lollipopmother · 17/01/2009 10:58

Oh, and I think I was the one person Ilovemydog was talking about!

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 17/01/2009 11:13

I dont un popper my dlish to wash, i do find the poo does not roll of like with my bg because it get down the edges of the attachments. I do like them though. They all 'hang out' so the air can get round the seperate bits attached to dry. I find other aio the air cannot get al round the bits and they smell like a hamster cage in ni time hence i dont like bg aio.

Isaidno · 17/01/2009 11:35

Sorry to be no fun, but jimmy, if your ds is already 2.5 he won't be in nappies too much longer. You might be wasting your money.

MrsJamin · 17/01/2009 11:41

I only use Itti Bitti D'Lish. I love them - such a nice fit and only slightly larger than disposables so clothes aren't really an issue. If you do get them though please don't put the outers on the radiators or dry clean them - I have ruined my mediums a bit by being lazy . You can wash & dry them altogether and they'd pretty much stay as one. On the itti bitti australian website they have sewn-in ones which wouldn't come apart - that seems ideal for you? I'm not sure where you'd get them in the uk though as I think Twinkle only stocks the snap-ins.

lollipopmother · 17/01/2009 12:23

Nah don't get the sewn in ones, I've got one and it's not as nice imo as the snap-ins, it takes longer to dry because there's padding sewn in that can't hang out and air. It also seems bulkier although I suspect that it's just because the padding is more evenly distributed throughout the whole of the outer, rather than being concentrated between the legs only.

And oh my God MrsJamin, that is no way to treat your Itti's .... radiators?!

MrsJamin · 17/01/2009 12:57

oh that's good to know about the sewn-in's. I think they are only good in warmer climates e.g. Oz.

I know LM I am so ashamed of myself

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 17/01/2009 13:04

REALLY DRY CLEAN YOUR NAPPIES? what happened with rads and itti bittis please as mine are drying on them now!

lollipopmother · 17/01/2009 13:24

Eeeeek no Nappyzone! I've heard various people ruining aio nappies or wrap by putting them on the radiator, the heat ruins the waterproofing or in the case of the Pop-Ins makes them go strangely crinkly and unwaterproof! I don't know why tumbling doesn't do this, I suppose the tumble dryer isn't as hot as a radiator?

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 17/01/2009 13:30

sorry mis read - no its only the inserty bits hangind over rad in contact with it iyswim
