What solution do you use for your washable wipes? And what pot do you use to keep them in?

Hello. Just wondered what everybody uses? I would like to start using my washable wipes again, but don't have much stuff in.

I have some Lavender oil if that is any good? I don't have any tea tree oil left (that I can find anyway) but might be able to get some tomorrow. Would like something that lasts a week or so if possible, as we don't go through that many TBH so wouldn't want to have to make it everyday.

Also, what do you use to store them in? We have a Pampers plastic pot that we have used before, but I find it is hard to get them in and out without opening the whole thing up. I have seen the Huggies version which I think is much better as you can actually get your fingers in the top bit to get a wipe out as it is soft, but I can't find them anywhere. What does everybody else use?

Thanks

Yes the poundland ones are quite small, just like a disposable baby wipe. I prefered them like this. A whole flannel still seems huge to me and my DD is 12 months. For a wee, one of those little ones is plenty and for a poo, even if I have to use 2 or 3, I would rather than than one big one as it is less washing in the long run.

I used water

DH was very pfb when ds was born and a thermos flask of hot water to mix in with the cold.

Thanks for the suggestions - will definitely look out for some cheap flannels. I might cut them up though - the squares of terry nappy that I use are only about 3 inches square if that, and it means if it is just a wet nappy you can just use one for a quick wipe, and just use several if it is a big messy nappy.

Top and tail bowl filled up with some warm water is what I use, then stick the dirty stuff in the other half to carry it all back to the bathroom where the nappy bucket is. Can't keep change mat in bathroom as it's a tiny bathroom.

I halved and hemmed my flannels, it was quite a job but all the fraying and endless loose threads in the wash would have driven me mad! The flannels I got are nice and thin so the size was ideal for us once they were halved.

I used water. Warm for the pfb, from a flask in the bedroom, and room temperature in a water bottle when he got older. DS2 just got room temp water unless there was a poo crisis and he got warm from the tap.

Warm is meant to be gentler on sensitive skin.

i just use water too - straight from the tap (I change him in the bathroom)

bump for pbo and a big thank you to all of you ladies - this thread was so handy. I have been using washable wipes now for a couple of weeks and love them.

chloejessmeg - thanks again beacause I use the baby cloths from poundland and think they are the perfect size.
