I have a large 8 month old (on 90th centile for both weight and height)and a 26 month old (although I am planning to haqve him potty trained soon after giving up the forst time!). As soon as I get paid this month I am planning to change to washable nappies and don't know whether to purchase bumgenius or wonderoos so any advice would be much appreciated please. Does anybody know good stockists or offers on at the moment?

I've tried both and much prefer BumGenius. I found them more absorbant, slimmer and quicker to dry.

Never managed to find them on offer though, sorry!

lollipopmother · 15/01/2009 17:01

Wonderoos are a pocket nappy so their absorbency purely depends on what you stuff them with. I have tried Wonderoos, my DD is only just 4 months and even though they're birth to potty they're just too big for her. I think they'd be good for an older baby like yours. I haven't tried BG I'm afraid.

Oh, and if you're ever wanting some to try, I'm selling off my Wonderoos!

Haven't tried wonderoos but we do love our bumgenius. slim, easy to wash, quick to dry. dh, who was really anti-washables, loves them so much that he has been evangelising about them to work colleagues

DS is 9mo, 75th centile for height, and only on second set of poppers so still plenty of room to grow.

lollipopmother · 15/01/2009 17:30

Are BG one-size or do you have to buy each size?

HolidaysQueen · 15/01/2009 18:58

they're one size birth to potty (have poppers to adjust the size). only got as far as 9mo but still plenty of growth yet so hopefully will last to potty stage.

i have used bumgenius on my son from early on and really rate them and not just because i sell them, i tried wonderoos early on but they swamped him and had odd leaks. Now he is 22 months and the bumgenius are still fitting him really well aand are a nursery favourite along with his greenkids. The wonderoos i had for him we are using again and have used since about 18 months old getting a good fit and rarely leakage - i mostly use the wonderoos for nightime as you can fit loads inthe pocket. Yes of course i know a good stockist

minxpinx · 15/01/2009 20:42

I'd get coolababys from ebay. They are much cheaper and do the job just fine.

mumoftoby · 15/01/2009 22:30

Thank you everyone - it has been really helpful. Nappyzone - I will be waiting for my return to work in Feb (and more importantly back to being paid!) but I will then be interested in buying 10 bumgenius - how much would that be including postage, any discount! Also, I would be interested in washable training pants if you stock those at all?

lollipop I would be interested in the wonderoos I might put them on DS1 overnight if they are larger!

mumoftoby - not sure if it helps but i found 10 bg slightly too few for me (i wash usually every 2 days). i've ended up with 15 - covers 2 days plus extras for nappy bag, accidents, forgetting to put wash in on time etc. could probably manage on around 12.

Marthasmama · 16/01/2009 09:58

Mumoftoby, I have a starter pack of Wonderoos that I am really not going to use. Do you want me to send them to you, for free of course? I know I could get some money on ebay for them but I really can't be bothered with all that. This way you can try them out without worrying about wasting money!

mumoftoby · 16/01/2009 10:03

Thank you 'marthasmama' and 'holidaysqueen' that is really useful.

'marthasmama' that is really kind. I would love the starter pack of wonderoos please, but of course would pay something. My e-mail is vikki_higham at yahoo dot co dot uk.

As per your post mufoftoby please feel free to contact me to discuss via the site...though free wonderoos sound fab so perhaps you would only need a few to top up your stash anyway..... you lucky thing!

dingdong05 · 16/01/2009 13:13

bum genius def win for me

Homebird8 · 22/01/2009 19:06

I've loved my Wonderoos and at one point had my newborn and my two year old wearing them so they should suit you until you get potty training sorted. I used them to potty train without much padding so DS1 could feel try to use them like pants but I was saved washing too many clothes as they still absorbed the dribbles cause by not being quite in time. DS2 was a skinny baby and I still found they fitted. I used bambino mio nappies to stuff them with as I'd been given them and they were fine.

On the same topic. DS's are now both out of nappies and I have said Wonderoos and nappies for sale at v. reasonable prices. I've got 15 Wonderoos in various colours if you wanted them (or a few to try?)

mumoftoby · 26/01/2009 09:17

Thanks Homebird(sorry to only just respond but I've only just seen your post). To be honest I probably shouldn't buy any from you as Marthasmum is sending some to me and thanks to mumsnet I have bought a few totsbots from Tk Maxx to get me started whilst on maternity pay! Thank you anyway.

I've tried both and still prefer motherease one-size nappies although I do like the colours that wonderoos come in.
