I washed baby clothes with one poo stained blanket at 40 degrees. Did I contaminate the rest?

Hi,

I know it might be a stupid question

I assumed 40degrees was fine but when I washed it, I realized that maybe the poo could have now contaminated the rest. Would you rewash the whole lot and on what temperature or is there a chance of my little girl acquiring any nasty bacteria?

gosh no. or at least if you have then i did it too, hundreds of times. anyway, it's not like they eat the blankets for dinner, they drool and poo on them.

hows' teh feeding going, forensica? i was talking to you the other night.

well all my clothes must be contaminated then

In NZ and Australia it is very common to wash in cold water - so 40% seems pretty bacteria busting to me!

That is great, thanks so much! You see first time mum, a bit silly at times

Aitch, hi again! We have a completely different baby since Tuesday - she wakes up for feeds now, sucks wonderfully an as you see we are getting plenty of poo too . The spoon feeding worked well, made us calm that she ate at least some that day. Looking back, maybe she just needed her time to adjust to the world. We were freaking out since she would sleep for many hours (13hours was a record and even then we had to wake her up and were told at A&E that that was very unusual) and not wanting anything. Now we just can not be happier .

Poo is not that toxic unless the person who pooed has an infectious disease. I would imagine you are all safe enough.

great to hear, forensica!
