How do I explain in a parent newsletter what the Pre-School Committee is without degrading gthe staff?

Many of the parents do not know what the Committee does at all and some I think would be shocked to learn that the school runs the school and pays the staffs wages etc...

Could you please suggest or draft a paragragh I could put in the next parent newsletter describing what it is about and how parents can get involved!!! Im struggling

you could say something like "We have had a few enquiries recently regarding the role of the Committee." Then do a Q and A style format such as "What exactly is the role of the committee?" and "What responsibilities does the committee have?" and "How can I become involved on the committee?" Then say something like "Hope this helps. Any questions do not hesitate to contact a member of the committee who will be glad to help" I don't think that sounds too patronising

Make a complete distinction:

The committee looks after the business side of the school; the staff look after your children.

I would make it quite clear that the pre school couldn't run without the committee and would have to fold. It used to be a problem years ago when mine were at that stage-parents have not appreciated that it isn't like a nursery school where you drop them off-you have to be involved. If you don't have a treasurer you can't pay the wages etc.

I like purepurple's sugggestino of Q and A.

Can you also give specific examples of what the pre-school committee have done for the school in the past?

Thanks for suggestions - onlu have a small area to print something but I think I'll go with the distinction first of all. Thinking about it perhaps a separate communication may be worth putting out in a Q & A style flyer - thanks again for help
