Bed time procrastination......

I potty trained DD about 3 weeks ago. She picked it up v quickly and has been brilliant.... BUT bedtimes are beginning to drive me potty (no pun intended!)

She's always been a bit of a procrastinator at bed time and while her older sister (they share a room) is generally out like a light about 15 mins after I say goodnight at 7pm, she'll run around and read books and hop in and out of bed fiddling around often for an hour or more, generally I just ignore it as she's happy and doesn't make a fuss. However, since potty training she sees it as a great new excuse to come out of her room and get attention, so often for up to an hour or more we have constant calls of 'Mummy, I need a poo poo', although sorely tempted to tell her to just go in her night time nappy, of course I go through all of the encouraging patient stuff and put her on the loo (although I try not to talk or interact too much). It used to be that she'd never do anything as she always did a poo after tea and a big wee before her bath, but the last week or so it's like she's been saving up her poo!!! So of course I have to be all happy and pleased with her (even if it IS nearly 8.30pm grrrrrrr!!!).

What can I do? She never used to poo at this time before potty training (it was always after breakfast or after tea) and I find it a bit of a pain encroaching into my evenings running up and down stairs to her. Any ideas? Or do I just have to be patient and she'll get over the novelty factor?? She's nearly 23 months if that's of any relevance.

I think you are doing everything i would do. I thibk you might just have to ride this one out till it's run its course.

giving dried apricots at breakfast time might help, as she will almost certainly need to go before tea time!
