DS 18 months has lived in GroBags since he was tiny, but I haven't been able to find any really warm ones with sleeves...anyone got any tips?
we've never tried pyjamas + blankets because he wriggles around in his cot so much he'd end up throwing the blankets off within half an hour....
we did find a fab thing from jojomamanbebe but it's been worn so much during this cold snap the zip has broken. (i will try to fix it!) Am about to buy another but they're expensive and he can only just fit the largest size so i'm a bit unconvinced.
Anyone found any good solutions?

Mothercare and Primark sell fleecy babygros.

Genius.

I want one.

Mine wears a body, a sleepsuit and a sleeping bag so he's got double layers on his body and arms. I found he kept waking up with just a body on underneath

I got his sleeping bags from Tchibo but they only do them every now and then. I think La Redoute also do bigger ones.

He is nearly 2 but is also really wriggly

they dont need grobags with sleeves though as long as they have bodysuits/pj's, etc on. DS whos is 2.3 years has a short sleeved bodysuit, pyjamas and a 2.5 tog grobag. If it is really cold I give him a cellular blanket on top too. His room can get down to 14/15 degrees at night but he still sleeps ok wearing the above. DS is in the 18-36 month size grobag.

ChirpyGirl · 10/01/2009 15:06

I put DD2 in a vest and sleepsuit and then 10 minutes after noises have stopped I adjust her and tuck her as firmly as I can, this tends to hold her until she wakes for a feed at 3ish
She can normally be found upside down with he legs sticking out of the side of the cot....

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 10/01/2009 15:14

fleecy jarmies, socks, jumper a fleecy blanket tucked in & when I go to bed I put the duvet on top of him with one of my chunky cardis.

I should say thou his room is literally like an ice block so he usually ends up in with me 'cosy' as he puts it. lol.

but other wise a fleecy sleepsuit, or jarmies & jumper works well.

bloominnorah · 10/01/2009 15:19

My DS - 23 mths, would never sleep under blankets as wriggled too much so has been sleeping in a vest, babygro and fleecy sleepsuit. Fleecy sleepsuit about 15 quid from Mothercare but I got mine in the sale for 9 quid. He sleeps well and is always toasty warm in the morning so I'm not about to change to duvets anytime soon!

dandycandyjellybean · 10/01/2009 16:48

my dd is 3 and in vest long sleeve tshirt, fleecy pj's and sox, plus quilt tucked in on all sides and a really fab thermal fleecy blanket from aldi, doubled over and tucked in tightly on all sides. He calls it his toasty pocket!!!!

ThornyRose · 10/01/2009 16:54

dd is 14 moths. Wears a long sleeved vest, long sleeved sleepsuit and a fleece baby gro (2.5 tog)

She has some sort of phobia about having blankets over her. If I try to cover her up with a blanket she freaks out, screams >

ThornyRose · 10/01/2009 16:54

A fleece gro bag that should say, not fleece baby gro

whoingodsnameami · 10/01/2009 16:56

Dt, refuse to wear anything at all, except a night nappy, but they dont get cold.

tumtumtetum · 10/01/2009 16:58

This has been worrying me a bit. DD always throws her blankets off in the night and I have to think of her shivering away - but if she was cold she'd cry wouldn't she? As it is she never wakes.

She is 18mo and has a vest and babygro on BTW.

Sorry to crash the thread but if they are sleeping and not waking or crying they must be harm enough - right?

Katerina75 · 10/01/2009 16:58

Long sleeved T-shirt, fleecy pjs, 2.5 tog grobag. He's too wriggly a sleeper for blankets!

tumtumtetum · 10/01/2009 16:58

Crikey...

have=hate
harm=warm

FFS fingers must be cold.

ohdearwhatamess · 10/01/2009 17:04

Warm pyjamas and a full size, high tog duvet (yes, I know that is frowned upon). His room is very cold (13 degrees).

nct73 · 10/01/2009 19:59

Mine often seems to end up out of duvet and used to wake up crying from cold and want cuddles then not except being put back to bed after the blast of body contact/warth. Tried fleecy babygro but she didn't like them. Well she liked the idea of them and was keen to put on but would end up tugging at her feet crying and then would undo them & get stuck trying to take off. She now seems happy in pJs, dressing gown & slipper socks.

geisha · 10/01/2009 20:07

vest, pj's plus fleecy sleepsuit from Mothercare. If very cold (over the last week) a duvet or fleece blanket over the legs. Heating left on 16 overnight.

alfage · 10/01/2009 20:12

Long sleeve vest from Tesco, long sleeved baby gro and primark fleecy sleep suit - similar to baby gro - only £3. All gr8

quint · 10/01/2009 20:14

Luckily we have a warm flat, however DD2 (2yrs) has just wondered in, removed her PJ's and said no like and got back into bed with just her nappy on- is she mad?!

silvermum · 10/01/2009 21:43

quint - !
i think she'll be back for her PJs soon! is there a scratchy label on them or something?

DD (3.5yrs) wears a vest, PJs and fleece suit. She sleeps under a 13tog duvet with a fleece blanket on top. Her room is between 16-18degs though. She is still cold 9 nights out of 10!

I have 19mo dd is a bodysuit, pyjamers and then a fleecy sleepsuit on top when it's very cold as she can be bad for throwing off the covers.

Primark sell the fleecy sleepsuits for £3 or £4 each, they're fab. Bought a couple a few months back and they're still going strong.

elkiedee · 11/01/2009 01:22

My mum gave us a couple of secondhand fleecy babygros bought at a nearly new sale for him to wear during our stay up there as her house is colder than ours, and ds seems to really like wearing them (he's 20 months) whereas blankets rarely stay put and nor did the rather thin coverlet thing. He has a vest and babygro underneath. We did have sleeping bags for him last winter but I think in this level of coldness at night I'm happier with him in the sleepsuit.

expatinscotland · 11/01/2009 01:23

my toddler is 3. she's got on a flannelette jimjam and sleeping on a flannel sheet with flannel duvet cover, 12 tog duvet.

keeps her warm enough.
