Car booster seat for 3.5 yo old

I am having another baby in a few weeks and the logistics of who will look after DS and where he will go are very dependent on lots of variables. My DH cannot drive so we may need to drop DS off in taxi somewhere on way to hospital or get him picked up by someone who doesn't have an appropriate car seat for him. I know legally children can travel in taxis if there is no car seat or in cars in extenuating circumsatances. However, I would like him to be as safe as possible and I was wondering if a booster seat and one of those seat belt adjusters would be safer than nothing, or not? He is 3.5 and quite tall but also quite skinny.

Bumping for you.

take his normal car seat - having seen the videos on youtube, not worth any risk IMO.

Yes, but it's huge so hardly portable and I'd also worry about other people fitting it correctly.

you'll have to fit it yourself - taxi's won't fit it for you.

Contact the road safety officers (via the link on the www.rearfacing.co.uk website - they offer a free service advising on carseats/boosters and are based in Essex but will correspond with you via e-mail or over the phone if you live too far to visit. They are not selling carseats etc., so advice is impartial and well-informed.

Good luck with your new arrival.
