Not sure where to put this really...

used to live over there and thinking of moving back, but now i live in the parallel universe of parenthood and I just wondered what it's like for kids over there in terms of resources, schools, etc, because apart from fields and lido i realise i don't have a clue!

Go for it - it's baby central and almost rivals Stoke Newington, but is possibly not so smug (ducks before flaming starts!). Lots to do, loads of good nurseries, primaries, parent/ baby groups and child friendly cafes - City Farm on Hackney Road's an easy walk away too.
We're in Dalston (a bit further north), so I don't know much about schools down there. Gayhurst always had a good rep, but I know people who say Queensbridge is great. Am sure someone on here will know.

Just realised you say Dalston too - Dalston's great. But then I'm biased! Let me know if you do move there, I can easily tell you good nurseries, schools, places to go, etc.

thanks smee. maybe i could cat you (if only i knew how) - be great to hear a bit more. i did used to like it when i lived there, though i always felt it was a bit edgy, which i kind of liked and kind of didn't like in equal measure iyswim. know what you mean about stokey, tho good secondary school in stokey - don't know about other end of hackney - but then that's a long way off...

Feel free to CAT me - though I don't know how you do that either . Secondary schools have changed a lot of late, due to a rash of shiny new Academies. Lots of ultra smart uniformed kids walk past me every morning. Not sure if they're any good, but it's obvious a lot of resources have gone in. Tbh, we're a long way off that stage too, but the kids who live nearby who go seem to be happy.
