Do you think DS might be ready to come out of nappies?

I've taken a fairly relaxed approach to most things, and toilet training has been no exception. I do think time has come to go for it, and wanted views!

DS has been asking to jump on the loo before bath for the last few weeks. He pretends to use the loo, wipe his bottom, flush, then wash hands. He has occasionally had a wee, but not every time. In the morning he has some time without his nappy, and for the last week or so has voluntarily used the potty that I've left out. He has been very excited by this use of the potty and I've given lots of praise etc.

He won't let me in the room when he is having a poo, but has refused the potty when I've asked him about it.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and it would be great if I could get him out of nappies before the baby arrives, but I'm not desperate about it.

Any views? He is 2.2, if relevant.

I would say that he is definitely on the road. he knows when he needs a poo, and has used the potty for a wee, so he has some control over his bladder at least. how about using pull-ups , even though I'm not a big fan,as in this instance, they can be used like pants but will save the washing when it comes to poos. they will also give him a bit of control, which is what children like. Good luck!

He has been in pull-ups for some, but I must admit I've never really associated them with potty-training! He has voluntarily used the potty several times today, so maybe I should go for it.

I do think the trick is to be consistent. Now he has started to use the potty, try to get him to use it all the time. sending mixed messages is what confuses some children.

Good point, I think I'll try tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for your help.
