Considering cloth...recommendations from those in the know please :)

PFB DS is 4 months old now and I find myself considering switching to cloth from disposables. I had only planned to use dispos till we had got to grips with the basics so here I am asking for recommendations because the massive range of nappies is so confusing!

The facts:

we have a washing machine but no tumble drier, so I guess I'd need something that dries fast

DS is a heavy wetter, particularly at night

he is also pretty huge for his age and is currently exclusively breastfed

Any thoughts on what might suit? I hear universal acclaim for Motherease wraps but when it comes to the actual nappies there's just too much choice for a ditherer like me

TIA

cyteen I don't have a drier either. I would recommend doing what I do - having some nappies that take a bit longer to dry and some that dry fast. So I have some bamboo nappies and some microfibre ones. i would recommend getting the motherease sandy's plus some microfibre nappies. Always recommend the ME Airflow wraps. I don't think the drying time is too bad with sandy's, but my Teddies take about 2-3 hours to dry.
I've tried the bumble and really don't like it. It is absolutely massive, but it does ok for night. Wouldn't use it as a day nappy though.
Maybe try joining the cloth nappy chat thread as well - you'll get plenty of good advice there, and it's always good to see another August mummy on there

I love Bumgenius! We only have a few but they are great - slim fitting, no leaks and they dry really quickly on the airer.
Only started using them when DS was over 1 so not sure what they'd be like on a smaller baby but I absolutely adore them and wish I could afford more (they're £15 each which isn't that bad when you consider that's nappy + wrap)

I use good old fashioned terry squares under a kushies wrap - My DS2 is 8mths now and our nappies were used on DS1 until he was 18mths when he went on to the potty.

I use PHP biodegradable paper liners that flush down the toilet and PHP nappy soak whicj is also boidegradable.

Terry squares dry very fast and we don't have a drier either. In winter they go over the radiators or on airer and in summer they look lovely on the line and get admiring comments from the older ladies!

PLUS!!! Terry squares are really cheap!

Motherease Sandy's (just the regular sort, see no need to go fancy)

Nature Babies Lovables which are nippa fastening and microfibre which means dries quick and you can get a great fit

I've recently started on Tots Bots Bamboozles velcro, I love the Tots fit and these are slim, like all bamboo things they don't dry quick though.

I am now selling most of my stash because my DP has decided that Iti Bitti D'lish are his favourites (they're mine really too due to cuteness although nothing can beat a Sandy's for functionality) and that he'll do more changes if we had more of them! They're very slim and extremely cute, but are rather expensive, don't need a wrap though.

Motherease airflow wraps are the best, especially over Sandy's (some wraps won't fit over a Sandy's) but they're a bit boring after a while. I hear good things about the new style tots wraps and i've just got one today so will be putting it to the test shortly. I've also just got some lush Blueberry Daiper wraps, expensive but gorgeous.

I really love my totsbots bamboozles, but the take an age to dry (an I often tumble!).I have some thirsties which dry fairly quickly - they are slim, cute and soft. Don't think much to the thirsties wrap though - I use them with a motherease wrap. Am hoping to try the new totsbots AIO, for my childminder, but am trying to find some reviews first.

Terries are easy with a nappy nippa and you can vary the fold to fit them to your baby iyswim. If you want to get them don't buy on the High St - they are very thin. Twinkle do nice ones. I have one or two bamboo squares which are slimmer but take longer to dry. Bamboo boosters have been useful, though. We've also used cotton prefolds pinned with a nappy nippa and this works OK for us, however they don't dry as quickly as terries. We don't have a tumble drier either.
I use a bamboo prefold and a booster inside an eco-bumble at night - it is massive and ds2 looks really funny walking in it, but with that and a fleece liner his little bottom is dry in the morning.
