Real nappies - storage questions please

I am expecting DC2 and have just got the Tots Bots down from the loft.

With DS1 we had a changing station with shelves underneath but I was still always getting frustrated that the nappies permanently looked a mess, stuck together etc. This time around they will have to share a room so we don't have room for a changing station (or anything else for that matter) so it will probably be a changing mat on the bathroom floor - which will be even worse.

How do you all store yours? I was bought a nappy stacker last time which I sold as it is designed for disposables.

Also, is there are good way of cleaning fluff out of velcro!

I am a little disappointed in myself for posting such a thread but I want to at least attempt some order in my life.

We've got the IKEA Trofast unit with the big plastic buckets that all nappies go into. A friend uses one of the IKEA toy storage things that hangs from the ceiling which I've always thought was rather nifty. Will try and find a link to the thing I mean.

For cleaning fluff out of velcro, comb it against another piece of the hooky velcro. Helps if the other piece is non-fluffy!

We have 3 storage boxes that stack. The bottom one has wraps & woolies in. The middle one has the nappies and the top one has wipes and nippas and other bits & bobs in.

Thanks hensmum. Will look at IKEA. have you got the Trofast changing unit? Can you take the changing top off and use it for toys later?

I actually quite like the sound of spending some afternoons in front of the TV combing velcro!

Just had a look and they don't seem to do it anymore, sorry. But a similar thing might work - just thought that was good as it didn't take up any floor space.

No, we got the cheapy £15 changing unit. Did the job really well and now keeps nappy buckets out of DS's reach.

Combing velcro can be very theraputic!

I use the bottom drawer of dd's chest of drawers (nappies on the left, wraps and boosers on the right) and change her on a £3 Ikea inflatable mat on the floor

our bathroom is downstairs so I keep a basket in there too with wipes and a couple of nappies in case I need to do a quick change

MrsBadger · 06/01/2009 12:47

was this the Ikea thing?

WhereTheWiseMenWent · 06/01/2009 12:49

I have a mahoosive ikea underbed storage box under my coffee table, this contains alll my real nappies and associated stuff, and also a spare living room rug, for when the main rug has been pee'd on and is in the machine.
