What do I do next? Now down to feeds at midnight and 4am - BF 6 month old?

DS was feeding every 2 to 2.5 hours. Bed at 6:30 (7 at the latest) with first wake up at 9.30pm.

So, 4 nights ago I decided not to feed him at 9:30pm and managed to calm him by speaking to him down the monitor and back off to sleep he went. To cut a long story short, I then fed him at 12:45am and then (with one wake up inbetween) again at 5:15am and up for the day at 7 ish.

The next 2 nights the feeds were about 12 and 4am, though last night he woke at 11pm but I refused to feed him until his cry sounded hungry rather than wingey and that was about midnight.

So, what do I do now? All thoughts and advice welcome!

Get your sleep pattern back a bit!
I take it your starting solids during the daytime, so these will eventyally take over from the milk, but for now enjoy the sleep and eventually he'll drop those night feeds.

you attract my envious vibes of that many hours sleep all in a row!!

Another couple of weeks til we start solids - he's just under the age just now and it will be finger foods from the off, so goodness knows how long it will take for him to eat (or more importantly) 'digest' a decent amount.

I am feeling like a new woman I must say! My concern is that because I've had to do something this time, I'll have to do something to get him to drop another wakeup. We had to work hard at DC1 which is why I'm asking.

No real experience, but i had a friend in a similar position, and every few days (she went veeeeerrrrry gradually) she moved her non feeding threshold back a bit. in her case it started by refusing to feed before midnight, and then refusing to feed less than 3 hours from then. every few days she then moved each time back 10 mins. so for you it could be, for example:

day 1: 12am, 4am
day 5: 12:10, 4:20
day 10: 12:20, 4:30

and so on... she never moved on till she'd had a good night or two on the new time, and never ever broke her rule, except for (I think) one major teething episode.

Of course, you could wit a few weeks and see if the solids improve things first. might be less hassle!

I think if you stick with the plan, like hopefully has posted, then it should work fine, as that's what worked with my two . A friend of mine did have probs with her little boy, which she solved by giving him porridge for supper, so you may be able to do that soon too.
