Hairbrushing Hell

Has anybody mentioned a brush called the Tangle-Tamer on here? I bought dd2 one for Christmas and it is amzing - it really doesn't pull at all - just goes through the hair. I'm sitting here using it on mine atm and it's painfree! It was from Boots and it was £8.95 - which is a small price to pay for complaint free brushing!

ooooh thank you

Going shopping for that tomorrow morning then. I bought a natural bristle expensive brush for DD1. Was better than normal (cheap) brushes but still pulls in her tangled long hair. A tangle taming brush under a tenner sounds worth a shot. Thanks for the info.

rolledhedgehog · 04/01/2009 16:24

I agree. It has changed my mornings. We call it the magic brush!

Oooh, can you get them from Boots now? I thought they were just mail order!

I want one! In fact I desperately need one! Hairbrushing in the morning is absolute purgatory.

Klaw · 04/01/2009 17:00

ooooooh, dd refuses to let me brush her hair! I only get to brush her hair after hair washing. Any other day it's a no go area...

will be off to Boots in the morning

Gorionine · 04/01/2009 17:18

I just googled it, which ones is it? (Question to Op)
hand powered one?

or

battery powered one?

Northernlurker · 04/01/2009 18:03

Glad to be of use - it's the hand operated one Dd1 has thick quite long straight hair - works on that. Dd2 has thick hair with a wave - works on that.

Happy shopping - if you can't find it in you local Boots let me know and I'll look here and post!

Thank you I'll be going to boots tommorow.
I've recently concidered cutting my daughters gorgeous hair, as It's awfull for her going through all that pain every morning. Her hair tangles so eaily.

Rindercella · 04/01/2009 18:29

How weird, I have literally just ordered one of these from lookfantastic.com

Pleased to hear that I shopped wisely!

The best thing for tangles in long hair is not to use a brush.

A comb is far better. More control, less pulling, less damage to hair.

Especially true when hair is wet.

And always, always work from the tips to the roots, not the other way around.

PinkPoinsettias · 05/01/2009 19:20

ouch.... comb never works in mine... in fact have broken several over the years.

bought a hair brush that's supposed to be brilliant for tangled hair in tescos about 5/6 months ago and it's just disintegrated on me.

both dd and i have hair that seems determined to become dreadlocks

will definitely be picking up one of these in time.

Kbear · 05/01/2009 19:22

try using hair serum on long tangled hair before brushing - I use Boots own one on DD's hair and it really makes a difference.

Morloth · 05/01/2009 19:42

I don't have a little girl but I do have long thick hair and the best thing I ever did was to stop using shampoo, just conditioner and I also use the Sunsilk detangler. Not using shampoo does mean I need to wash it more often but it is so nice not having knots (especially now with the colder weather wearing turtlenecks).

neolara · 05/01/2009 19:51

I love the tangle-tamer. It's called the magic hairbrush in our house.

Soprana · 05/01/2009 19:54

NorthernLurker I LOVE YOU! Thanks - am rushing out to Boots to buy one tomorrow!!!

bigTillyMint · 05/01/2009 19:58

It just looks like a normal brush - I am intrigued to know how it works.

DOes it detangle the underneath matted bit at the back? (that DD always avoids!)

wrinklytum · 05/01/2009 20:01

Thank you ,thank you, thank you NL

DD is hypersensitive about having her hairbrushed (SN) and it usually ends up as a big battle with me having to pin the poor child down and her screaming blue murder.I am gonna order one of these ASAP!!!

Rindercella · 06/01/2009 16:24

It's just turned up, and it is true - it is MAGIC! no tears, no tangles. Just fab!
