Hello,
Iam a new mum to a 7 week old boy that does not sleep!! He just takes 20 minute powernaps. I have considered buying an amby bed but would like to know if they are as good as they claim to be? Thank youx

As with anything, it may be, for some. You won't know until you try.

Where are you? I have one upstairs you could have a try with if you're nearby?

In Berks here.

It worked for me I wish I'd had one with my first, we live and learn though eh ?

Umlellala · 02/01/2009 09:52

It's nice and cosy. Ds seems to settle well in it (and from awake too - dd never did) BUT he is hardy ever in it (a bit of a faff and I prefer him/he prefers seeping next to me)

We have one and it's been fantastic! Takes a little while to get the hang of positioning etc but I wish we'd had it with our first two!

DS loves it, he struggled to sleep in moses basket so we gave it a go and has been fantastic.

nothing's guaranteed to work for every baby but i would happily have paid £100 for ONE decent night's sleep with my first, so it was a chance i was prepared to take for my second (especially considering resale values are reasonably high. worked for us, result

btw mine wasn't an amby, but v similar.

lisad123 · 02/01/2009 10:34

i had one with dd2 and it was fab. She was so stug in there, slept very well. worth a try and can always tick on ebay after

minouminou · 02/01/2009 21:55

Worked like a treat for us with DS, so always worth a shot.
Will be using it for DD (due april).
DS was too big for it by 9/10 months, so do have cot ready
He loved it, though - got some great footage of him bouncing up and down in it.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 03/01/2009 14:17

Wonderful! Saved our sanity and started DD on a positive road of sleep association.

Umlellala · 03/01/2009 15:29

Do all you Amby users put them in awake? Or is there a trick i am missing? Cos ds is usually very happy to lie awake in the cot and drift off, or used to slightly wake after feeding then settle but recently if I feed him then try to put him in, he just wakes and cries - can't seem to get near enough to lay him gently so end up clumsily throwing him in - not surprised he is jolted... help!

(mind you, he is teethingand refusing to settle anywhere except me today )

Umlellala · 03/01/2009 15:30

PS my 5mth ds is V heavy (9kg at last count), and looks snug as a bug once in

puppydetox · 03/01/2009 16:25

if dd woke up when we put her in we'd just bounce her and she'd almost always drift off. but there were times when she was ill and she'd only sleep on one of us (still are now she's in a cot).

I have an almost 8lb 6wk old daughter, been trying the Amby Baby Nest on and off since she was born.
Am I missing something? because whenever we put her in it her head which is the heaviest thing about her ends up weighing the rest of the sling/hammock thing down...so she's lying with her head lower than her body.
Tried placing her at the top end of the mattress and in the middle.
Any tips would be appreciated.
