Yeah title pretty much explains it all.

He wont touch most thing infact basically lives on a bowl of cereal and if I'm lucky some sausages toast a day.

He has been this way for the last year and a half basically since he was 1. He was a fab eater then he just went funny. Have told HV several times and keep getting told the same thing, he wont starve himself and its normal. But I cant help think that to this degree it is not normal.

I have noticed he looks thinner and my family have noticed it too. Yet HV still says its normal and at one point I was told

'Well you dont like forcing him to eat how will you feel when hes forced fed through a drip'

That was about 2 months ago and has just shot my nerves, its not my fault I do try honestly I do, I make him meals with us but he never eats them so put him on something he normally eats (but never guaranteed) and most of the time he still wont touch that.

He hasnt for the last 2 days and I mean not a thing. I am at my wits end with it what could I do?

I am going to go to HV again in new year but Im not sure if theres anything they can do

Was also wondering does anyone know if I should put him on viamins or sothing because he has been unwell constantly throughot winter just with chickenpox, colds and throat infections.

Does he have much milk?

He has 2 cups a day plus 2 cups of juice.

Can you get a new HV - s/he doesn't sound too helpful...

Vitamins might be an idea - if he's had lots of bunged-up noses he may be out of the habit of feeling hungry IYSWIM? Might drive his body to remember what it's missing?

And are you checking his height too? He may have had a lengthwise spurt to make him look skinnier?

I've just got a new HV so hopefully she will be a bit nicer.

He hasnt eaten 3 meals since he was 1YO so sickness isnt the cause as far as we know, he has had blood tests for allergies and he has been monitored for 3 days to check his habits but there doesn't seem to be any rason behind it.

He just eats less and less every week.

Am so sorry to hear your DS's feeding issues. At times like this you need a supportive HV. Would it be possible for you to speak to your GP about your concerns? My DS is a fussy eater - not as fussy as your DS - so I know how heartbreaking it can be.

Things that have helped us:
Have you thought about a star chart (as a reward for trying new foods) for your DS? Or maybe getting him to help with food preparation (washing fruit and veg, making fairy cakes)? Smoothies are a good way to get more fruit into fussy eaters - if your DS will have juice, he may take a smoothie.

Best of luck.
