Thats it really, any suggestions are welcome.

I have been looking at waterproof type things with a velcro fixing tab for when DS2 is in his baby carrier but I'm not convinced they will stay on. Also just something soft for in the house, his toes are so icy.

No, Gap socks really are the thing. Our local Gap never has a good selection for this very reason. Buy them in when you can!

If you live in a place which isn't posh enough to have a GAP (shock horror from middle class mumsnet) try asda socks 6-12 months. They work fine for my DD aged 3 months, because they are so big and virtually go up to her knees.

I too say GAP

I recommend them to all of the new parents that I work with and they are all very pleased.

Maybe I should start asking for commission?

Primark do socks with big rolled over cuffs which stay on for ages. They cost £2 for a 6 pack.

I bought my son (9 months)some moss green thick fluffy socks from Fat Face. They are too big for him (2yrs-4yrs) but I just put them over his normal socks and over the top of his trousers. The thickness of the trousers mean they stay on and they look like little furry boots.

Another vote for Gap

My parents bought DS (5 months) some little sheepskin boots for christmas and the combination of those with Gap socks never comes off his wriggly little toes!!
