Do you let your children eat their christmas goodies straight away?

In my endeavour to make christmas go as smoothly as possible - I don't want an argument as soon as my 5.5 and 3 year old boys open their first bit of chocolate at 7am and want to eat all of it. What do you do? Just interested and trying not to be uptight about it!!!!

It's Xmas, i say let them. As long as they don't eat it all morning then refuse any lunch, i don't think a bit of chocolate for breakfast will hurt. I might have chocolate for breakfast this year myself!

DS can eat what he gets in his stocking straight away, but I try to make sure that there isn't too much in there.

I am mean and say thay can have "some" chocolate after breakfast but it must not spoil their lunch, after that, they can then troff for england.

I make sure there is a packet of buttons or something in the stocking. That way once he's eaten those breakfast is ready. Very sneaky beaky!

thanks for these tips - I think moderating stocking chocolate is the best option. If i get any breakfast into them it will be a miracle!

No. They have to have breakfast and fruit and then can have a bit of chocolate at about 10.30. After Christmas lunch they can eat as much as they want (which often isn't all that much as they're too full!).

I don't put a lot of chocolate/sweets in my dcs stockings and would probably not be bothered if they wanted to eat what was there before Christmas - partly because when i was a child we would devour half a selection box before breakfast...

Right or wrong, I let dc eat what they like on xmas day, am not bothering with xmas dinner, will have a hot and cold buffet instead.

I never ration dd with chocolate (especially not at christmas) but then she never eats a full bar of anything, infact she still has a bagfull of goodies from halloween

When we were kids we had satsumas, treat size chocolatea and boxes of raisins in the stocking then if we were given selection boxes they were not to be opened until after boxing day as we had sharing chocolates in the house for after lunch. I don't celebrate christmas anymore but will do the same for DS for Eid when he is older.

Mine have a selection box and are 6 and nearly 3 - so no, otherwise they would immediately eat 5 choc bars. They can have one when they ask - max 1 per day, at a suitable time.
They will also have a small handful of chocs - celebrations or similar, and they can eat those.
