What arty crafty type things can I do with DD (16 months)?

I've just set aside a shelf in my unit specifically for craft stuff for the DCs [up own arse emoticon] (Seriously, it's to stop them from trailing shite all over the house without ever creating anything! ) It's easy to think of things to do with DSD as she's 4 but I struggle to think of fun things to do with DD. Usually I just end up giving her a piece of paper and a crayon but she gets bored of it quite quickly and wanders off on a path of destruction. I thought I could get some poster paints and do some finger painting as I have old laminate in the hall so it wouldn't matter if it got ruined. Other than that I'm stumped. Any ideas, please?

Thanks heather Some good ideas there, although she does love eating glitter so I doubt much would get on the paper I'll give your ideas a try once Christmas is out of the way.

Pritt stick, piece of paper and some sequins keeps ds going for ages.

Also paints and glitter!

1.Cut a paper plate into 4 quarters

Glue each on over the other to make a Christmas tree

Either paint or stick green bits of paper/tissue on

Add sweet wrappers or sparkly bits

  1. Stick 2 CD's together - shiny side out
add shiny stickers (I used stars) Hang on some string - put a photo on one side in the middle (about 3 or 4 cms accross) & the date on the other
  1. Cut up bits of coloured paper in to small square/triangles - spread pritt stick on a paper let dd put them everywhere

I've just bought my 18mo dd a huge craft bucket for these very reasons! It has loads of stuff in and was only £4.00 out of Au Natural. Dd loves sticking, glueing, bending pipe cleaners, using the crayons, painting, all the glitter and sequins etc. She had a huge tantrum when i put it all away!

Perfect for rainy days and Nan and Grandads fridge never looked so colourful

I'm also going to invest in some playdough.

Oh and also, instead of spending a fortune on those hand and feet casting things, I bought 2 small canvases, plonked dd's hands and feet in red paint and printed them on the canvas. One has the hands on and one has the feet, each captioned 'dd's hands/feet, 10 months old.'

I have them on her wall in her room and they look lovely. It was feckin hilarious doing them at the time as well, although I recommend 2 people for this particular task!

Wow great ideas here, thankyou I'll have fun with these with DD, and I'm sure she'll enjoy them too!
