Eating salad

DS is 5.5 and he eats a good variety of friut and veg, but the only salad thing he will eat is cucumber. I know the main reason for this is that i just never gave him salad as a toddler (no idea why). Its a bit of a pain because its easy for lunch boxes.

So, with DD 2.9 i always put a selection of salad type things (carrot/celery sticks, cheery toms, pepper, etc) on her plate at lunch time. I encourage her, but she never eats it. She eats a smaller variety of fruit and veg, but does have 4+ potions a day.

So, shall i just give up and accept she just doesnt like it of carry in putting on her plate inthe hope she may eat it one day?

I know in the grand scheme this isnt really important. Just wondering what the general opinion was.

If you're preparing salad anyway because you're having it, then I think giving her a selection is a nice idea. But if you're preparing all different things just for her, I'd probably switch to just putting one kind of salad on there each day - just swap around so she has the chance to try all of them over time.

Have you tried spreading cream cheese down sticks of celery and cutting it into 'boats', or giving them a dip to dunk them in.

Can just be plain mayo, but my DD's faves are mayo with a tsp of pesto or korma paste stirred in, or natural yogurt with a tsp each of sugar and mint sauce stirred in. She likes sour cream and chive too but that's a bit of a treat!
