Hi there,my dd is 2 years 3 months old, weighs about 20 kilos and is a 1 metre tall- (takes after daddy not me!)
The weight limit on her harness on her car seat is 18kg which seems to be pretty much standard. yet I don't feel at her age a booster seat and adult seat belt will offer her enough protection. Has anyone got any advice? I've rung ROSPA and local road safety and spoken to Britax the lady there says she wouldn't recommend not using a harness at her age but couldn't offer me an alternative!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised the britax lady was no help, I've got a britax elite which has a harness suitable to up to 26kg, or age 6. It might be called the junior traveller now, but I only bought it last year. Will search for you.

thanks! They've stopped making the elite now. She did mention something about a nordic seat that she would have to special order for me at £196 I wouldn't mind if it'll last her a couple of years

this

is not that well written, but it implies that you can use the integral harness until child is 36kg.

Suitable from 9kg/20lbs to 36kg/79lbs (approx. 9mths to 11yrs). Baby/child faces forwards in a seat with an integral harness secured in the car by an adult seat belt

again this one doesn't say you need to remove the harness

dylsmum1998 · 16/12/2008 20:17

this one could be good as your dd is tall, the head rest is adjustable as she gets older

thinking along the same lines there thisisyesterday

The suggestions you've had may well work, but there may be limitations on what weights/ages have been tested under which configuration. I'd want to be crystal clear before I bought one.

Have you tried the road safety team in Essex? They are extremely good (get hired out around the country to do most of the free car-seat safety checks at local fire stations) and very helpful. You can get hold of them on 01268 297593 - they're only open Tuesdays and Fridays but have an answer phone and do return calls.

The Britax Nordic Elite is also called the Two Way Elite and is available from the [http://www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk/shop/special_br_07.html In Car Safety Centre]] in Milton Keynes for just under £200.
