How often does your potty trained toddler go?

DD1 only wees 3 times a day, and never at night.
It's been like this since she trained a few weeks ago and she has been tested for urine infections, and had antibiotics as she kept complaining it hurt, but 2 courses later, it doesn't seem to hurt, but she still doesn't go veyr often.
Reassure me?

DS1 used to go every five minutes. He has the bladder capacity of a small mammal even now and he is 8 (although he can easily hold it all night).

DS2 on the other hand goes only 3 or 4 times a day and is perfectly fine. He can go for hours without having a wee (although I can't get him dry at night)

Frequency (going a lot) is more of a sympton of an infection than not going at all although the pain must be a worry. However, since it is gone I would accept that she is OK and just keep making sure that she is drinking enough during the day. So long as she is properly hydrated she will go when she needs to.

thanks. I suppose it's because my bladder control has all but disappeared I find it odd

It's weird, she goes just before bed, and we do put her in a nappy, just because she freaks out if we don't, but then doesn't go until after breakfast!

DD probably goes 3-4 times a day and is dry at night. Like you I try to encourage her to go more regularly but I don't think she actually needs to go!

Bladder control post children........what's that then?

Seriously, I was just wondering if the pain she was experiencing was due to her holding her wee so long that she made her bladder ache - you know the kind of pain where you really need to go but can't find a toilet?

Perhaps you have to encourage her to go more and have set times for a wee? Just a thought - she might resist and it would then turn into a big issue. After all, you can lead a child to the toilet but you can't make them wee, to hijack an old saying!

Her potty is always in the room (dd1 d oesnt do stairs alone, dd2 cant beleft)and she takes herself, sometimes it is loads, sometimes it's a
'tiny baby weewee mummy, look!'

She always goes after meals, and before bed (altho thats normally the after tea one) she doesnt say it hurts while she wees, just after.

My daughter is much the same as yours ChirpyGrinch. She seems to have an enormous bladder and rarely wees at night. She is only 24 months and has been this way since she trained a month or so ago.

With dd it varies. Some days she only goes 3 or 4 times in a day. Other days it's more like once every hour.
