Not sure if this is normal but am after a bit of ressurance.

DS has always been very highly strung/sensitive/ spirited however you describe it.

I have to be careful who interacts with him and make sure noone picks him up or else he will scream.

He seems to have massive tantrums for absolutely nothing, eg. he sees something I am putting in the bin which he wants, he cries or he reaches for something in a shop but cant have it so screams again. Cries whenever in the car and buggy, doesn't seem to like being strapped into anything for more than 10 minutes before it all kicks off.

Is this normal?

I take it this is your first dc (don't mean this patronisingly, just checking)

Sounds totally normal to me, he's just entering the terrible twos early. Hopefully he will come out of them early too. He will be fine and so will you, promise

Yes he's my first, lol! Is it that obvious?! Thanks for the ressurrance. It just seems one crying fit after another, very tiring and so hard to listen to. It is litterally constant!

It's just that it seems to be a battle to do anything with him, dressing, car rides, buggy, shopping, visiting peoples homes cos he sees smething reaches for it and screams when he cant reach it. Cries for no reson sometimes just cos Ive shut a door or something . Arrrghhh!

i am presuming it's normal. my ds has at least 10 screaming fits a day, very easily soothed usually but so loud and frustrated sounding. just something simple like me closing the living room door can set him off being angry and throwing his weight around, going shopping is nightmar, he wants to walk everywhere and hates being moved on or moved away from anything.

he seems to be frustrated a not understanding things but has always been like this. i am hoping he lightens up when he can talk. he can be the most adorable, clever, charming, amazing child but you really don't want to get on the wrong side of him! also the slightest illness/ tiredness/ teething and he's unbearable to be around.

he's just very very sensitive and inquisitive, hates being 'trapped' in his pushchair too. car is no fun for any more than 20 minutes, need lots of snacks & toys for distraction. all sounds quite normal to me but must admit it is wearing! that said my ds has been a complete angel since 2pm today, has smiled, laughed, entertained himself and us so it's not all bad!

Sympathies from mum of another 16 month old.

I think mainly it's just something that has to be toughed out, but distraction is the only thing I can find that helps. And I try to gee him up rather than ignore him - just "Oh dear you're angry ... [squeak] look at the amazing thing I have just discovered that's actually very mundane but might just be enough to get your attention for a moment ..."
