How old when starting watching TV?!

Okay, I feel like a terrible mum for asking this, but I'm genuinely curious? how old are most people's kids when they start watching TV? DS is eight weeks and doesn't really focus on anything that isn't directly in front of him (or rather, just to the side as he never wants to look straight forward), but I've seen people on here talking about their three-month-olds sitting happily in front of the TV. Is it about this time they start being able to watch it?

I think they're interested in the patterns, flickering, colours and noises but not actually watching it so you don't need to worry about watching dreadful childrens TV until he's much older. I think my DD was closer to one before she got 'into' telly.

Well I think 8 weeks is probably too young. But if your ds had older siblings the TV would be on wouldn't it?

My dd was about one when she started to watch it regularly. Although I'd have it on for me before then. Suddenly it came to me "I could have half an hour to myself - doh!".
