Oh pants, I really have let my dd down and I feel horribly terribly guilty as only a doting parent can ...

Went to the school office to buy DD's ticket for the school disco - they've only bloody sold out!!!!

All of her friends are going cos their mums got their act together and bought tickets on time.

DD was very, very upset at tea-time. Big fat tears rolling down her cheeks.

I felt like crying with her.

Can't even pour myself a medicinal glass of wine cos on a break from alcohol.

Gonna name change to eeekapantsmum.

Good, I am happy that she got a ticket. Well done

I'm glad she got her ticket. I expect fire regulations give a max of 240 but that means that they need to hold 3 discos!

Glad all is sorted. BTW , when informing you of the disco was there any indication it was first come first served? Maybe another thing they need to consider.

SleighGirl · 11/12/2008 18:07

That is ridiculous 240 places for 700 pupils!

eekareindeer · 11/12/2008 18:17

Quite right, Pisces. I think they need to hold the discos on at least two nights.

No, there was no "prior warning" Cecilia.

Dh and I were in school for a while this morning because it was our DS's nativity play (he is infants, DD is juniors) and we bumped in to two other mums in the same no ticket nightmare scenario as us.

Another wiser mum, who has older children in the school, overheard us talking, and said "oh yes, this always happens every year with tickets for the school disco".

Glad it was sorted eekareindeer!

i would drop an email to the school, detailing the problem - we have 300+ pupils and hold two discos, one for lower school and one for upper school, on the same night - one for an hour, and the other for 1.5 hours. The DJ is the same cost for the evening whether it was 2 or 5 hours.

I would suggest that the school do three discos of an hour each - split into age groups, then at least all kids get the opportunity to go. It is a lot of hard work running around and cleaning up, but at least if it is on one night then you only have to do it the once!!
