Is it normal to feel nervous about leaving DC to go out of town, it's only for a day.....

DH has agreed a day trip for me and a friend to go skiing during his familys visit over the holidays. DS is 18mths, but I feel so nervous about going. DS will be fine and well looked after, but I run through what might happen to me. I feel like I need to go, just to get it out of the way, that I can leave him and go out of town for the day, and everything will be fine.

I'm looking forward to going, I used to go skiing with this friend last time I lived here in Montreal, many weekend trips with a bunch of us. Last time I skiied was 2yrs ago, 6mths pregnant with DS, so I really want to do it.

I have no trouble leaving him with childminder (3days/week) and whenever I need a mooch about town, but it just feels different to leave town without him.

Is it normal to be so nervy? Or am I being a bit daft?

You are normal.
The dcs will be fine though, as you know.
Enjoy!

yes, you are being daft

now run along and plan what you will wear, where you will have lunch etc

It's me I don't think will be fine, imagine car crashes, skiing into trees breaking neck etc.....

Lunch is always the same AnyFucker, a couple of shots at the bottom of the run, then back up again. (well maybe not for the driver, in light of the above concerns)

I'm the same. On the odd occasion I have left dd with dh, I feel so worried that I will never survive the trip. Obviously though, I have, and though I never consider that dh has fed dd properly or taken her out for sufficient fresh air, everyone seems to have survived.

It's one of those Mummy things. It's almost totally irrational but you cannot help it. It goes with the territory. Like DH driving too fast (more than 50 miles an hour) or swinging them too high.
