double buggy / carrier / make her walk? mumsnet help required!

I hope this is the right place to post?
I am going on holiday to New York in 10days. We plan to be doing quite a bit of walking / sight seeing etc. I have a 15 month old and a three year old. Obviously the three year old walks almost everywhere these days but I am trying to think of a pushing or carrying solution so she can have rest from walking if she gets too tired?

Any bright ideas? I don't want to spend a fortune - the holiday has cost enough! but I really want the children to have as happy a time as possible and us too!

My youngest is 15 months although small for his age and gets quite restless and grumpy in his buggy (quinny zapp) even at the best of times.

So what buggy or what ever do you think - I did buy a soft carrier (patapum toddler) so that I could use the quinny or carrier for either of them but the youngest absolutely hated it so sold it.

So what's the solution mumsnetters (apart from leave them behind lol) Thanks in advance

Presumably dp/dh is coming too? I'd be tempted at buying/borrowing a 2nd cheap umbrella buggy just so as you have some extra options. Double buggies are a faff imo esp if you (and the children) are not used to them. I got a MacLaren volo as a lightweight buggy for taking my 3yo on holidays where we would be doing too much walking for him.

Yes he is, I just worry that two buggies ight be a bit cumbersome whilst eating out / shopping etc

Well I would assume that you would collapse the umbrella one when you didn't need it, or even you wouldn't have it with you every day of the holiday. I'm afraid that my buggy would always get loaded up with all sorts of junk, so having one that really did fold up to be very small still takes less room that a double. Eg I could hang my folded buggy ont he back of my chair say.

Prepare dh for some long haul piggy back rides! Cost efficient and think of the photos!
