Thats about it really, been sick, properly sick, had a long sleep and has woken up feeling a bit better but still looks pale and washed out, not eaten anything today apart from breakfast. Is it still wise to keep her at home tomorrow.

In order to be sure of not passing on the bug, you should be keeping her home for 48 hours from the last time she was sick.

I thought schools all had a policy of children staying off till 48 hours after the last bout of sickness/diarrohea

popsycal · 04/12/2008 20:07

48 hours off

bollockbrainASSofBETHLEHEM · 04/12/2008 20:07

of course you keep her at home.

nappyaddict · 04/12/2008 20:07

Our local doctors has this poster up which recommends keeping them off for 24 hours after the latest time they were sick.

jenkel · 04/12/2008 20:08

Ok thanks, she has just started and I know the school send out letters if they have too much time off, I was going to keep her home anyway, just wanted bit of confirmation that it was deemed necessary.

48 hours off. Dd has had a total of 3 weeks off already this term , as everything she gets is infectious. I keep her off until she is totally cleared up, and two days later she either has it again or something else. Am getting a bit now!

Olihan · 04/12/2008 20:11

Of course you need to keep her at home. She's been sick 6 times in the last few hours and hasn't eaten today. Why would you even consider sending her to school?

You're not supposed to send them to school for 24 hours after they've been sick anyway. Most schools state that in their policies - you wouldn't be popular if you spread a vomiting bug around school.

WingsofaChristmasTreefairy · 04/12/2008 20:11

Usually when you ring to say they will be absent and the reason why they will tell you how long to keep them off.

jenkel · 04/12/2008 20:13

I wasnt going to send her to school if you read my posts, just wanted a bit of confirmation that it is the norm to keep her off for 24 hours.
