We are booked to go on Sunday and was wondering what you thought. Also we have been booked into the Santa show - was this any good?

Just to let you know we went on Sunday and it was fabulous. There was a free show in a circus big top - panto ice show and all the kids got a wuality gift from Stanta at the end. It was a truly magical experience - great fmaily day out...well done Drayton MAnor!!!!

We went two weeks ago. It pissed it down and was freezing cold. Not a happy experience.

DD2 (20 months) was also in a foul mood all day and screamed everywhere we went.

There is a big indoor play area. It was freezing in there too.

I think the key is to go on a sunny day otherwise it's all a bit of a washout.

It looks like there's not as much to do this year. There's a 4D show of The Light Before Christmas in the cinema and and 10 minute musical type show but that's it. No circus big top and no ice show. Santa was in the show but they didn't get to meet him, only the elves. Did they get to actually meet and speak to Santa last year?

The one good thing was because we went on a weekday and the schools haven't broken up yet we didn't queue for anything - just walked straight onto all the rides. It was really quiet and when we rung up on the morning to book (because it's £1 cheaper per ticket) we were told there was no need. They gave us a reference number and paid when we got there. It's only open 12-5 though and we didn't get time to look around the TV set or go in the indoor play area. If you go on a weekend or Christmas week it is open 12-6 so you may get more time to do it all, but at the same time it may be busier meaning you have to queue for longer and actually get less time to do everything?

nappyaddict · 15/12/2009 20:29

Oh and the last thing is that some of the rides have a minimum height of 0.9m, 0.95m or 1 metre. It's free for under 2s, 2-3 years olds is £11 and anyone 4+ is £16. If 4 or more people go it's £12.50 each. This is why I waited until this year to take DS. He's still 3 so got in for the cheaper price, but if we'd have gone last year he wouldn't have been tall enough for some of the rides.

My final final point (I promise ) is that the only things worth getting from the Thomasland gift shop are the PJs which are reasonably priced at £6.99, tshirts which were £4.99, the door plaques and then cheaper items like door handle signs, badges, cards, bookmarks etc. Everything else is at the RRP and you can get it all cheaper in the shops or online.
