How can I remove a tangled comb from my daughter's hair?

My husband has been putting my 6 year old daughter to bed, not realising she had a comb with her and had been twisting it around her hair. When he did finally realise, the comb is firmly twisted in the front part of the hair, and we are trying (in shifts) to remove it. Does anyone have a quick answer to doing this, other than just cutting all her hair???

Put some oil/ conditioner on it?
Not sure there's a quick way really. Just need to pick a few strands out at a time.
Oh dear!

Try using a leave-in conditioner, or maybe something like olive oil?

Have you wet her hair? Use conditioner (lots and lots).

Get another comb and use it to gradually untangle the hairs from the comb starting from the edges of the comb and the tips of the hair.

Keep the hair wet as you're doing it and reapply conditioner to keep the whole thing lubricated.

This won't be cheap. Use the least expensive conditioner you have

Hurray, it is finally out, after an hour of trying. Hair still intact as well but a bit frizzy. Thanks for all your help.
