Wraps

Can anyone recommend a nice soft wrap please? I have tried motherease airflow and rikki, thirsties, bravo wraps, popolini and nature babies. Nature babies seem to be the only ones that are just ok. All in large.
My dd is 18 months old and the wraps seem to be irritating the top of her legs and leaves her in a red rash. Its not so bad if I use my pocket nappies like BG or wonderoos. She is very skinny with very chunky thighs. I haven't tried wool or fleece wraps as I wouldn't know where to start. Thanks

Is it definitely a rash as opposed to red pressure marks? If you're getting red pressure marks from the airflow they are too tight, you don't actually have to create a seal with the airflow at all, there can be quite big gaps between the cuff and the leg, never have quite worked out how airflows work when they're so baggy!

The bambinex have nice soft bindings.

lollipopmother yes its a rash, as soon as I take her nappy off she just scratches like mad. I took her to the doctors about it as I thought it could have been thrush, but as its nowhere else he just said it was an irritation and just told me to apply moisturiser to it.
flamesparrow how reliable are the bambinex and can you get them in poppers?
I have another question - most of the nappies I use have fleece inners built in, during the day I would also use a fleece liner but not at night time - could this be causing wicking onto her legs? generally when she wakes in the morning her thighs wouldn't be as red. Sorry for so many questions but I really don't know what to do now.

bambines will be available in poppers in Jan if you can wait. I have found them very reliable leak wise.

ShirleyL · 28/11/2008 14:55

Yes can wait. Will most places that sell the aplix be selling the poppers do you know?

Are there any other wraps that have soft bindings that are also reliable?

I wonder if she has a mild latex allergy/sensitivity? With the Motherease wraps, the elastic can touch the skin through the meshy binding ditto Bravo and Popolini, and with Nature Babies (and Thirsties too I think) the binding is elasticated.
The soloution would be either wool or fleece (not always ideal for use with car seat/pushchair straps as they can push the moisture out), or Stacinator So Simple wraps which have only fleece cuffs no elastic at all (or Lovebums if you can find one secondhand as I think they're not being made at present).
Some people have success with the Prorap as the elastic is encased in the (more solid) binding, but Prorpas are best ov er prefolds and don't particulalry go over chunky waisted nappies (not sure what you have) as they're not that deep from waist to thigh, also the Blueberry Minky wraps - expensive but very pretty but you have a good excuse! - are encased with no elastic showing. Others find the elastic of the Imse wraps (Imse soft wrap or the organic cotton) work well with this type of sensitivity, or to try the Bummis Whisper or Disana pull on pants as they have a different type of binding again

Stacinator do PUL wraps with fleece cuffs, very good for sensitive babies.

ShirleyL · 04/12/2008 14:52

Thank you. Have you tried the stacinator so simple wrap?

Yes that's the one. Worked well for DS.
I'm selling a size small if that size is any use.

ShirleyL · 04/12/2008 22:54

thanks but shes 18 months with really chunky legs - been a while since she was in small sizes
