Keep it, sell it or pass it on?

And what about the big things prams, carseats, baby gyms etc?

all of those things!

kept some of the nicest/least puked on stuff and big items wrapped and put in the loft

toys etc taken to local health centre and charity shops

plenty of my friends bundle clothes and EBAY them

Anna8888 · 28/11/2008 09:55

Pass it on to family - lots of my cousins have children just a little younger than DD.

ChubbyDick · 28/11/2008 09:58

I keep my favourites and give the rest to a charity shop.

Though we've recently decided not to have any more children so I'll have to decide what to do with all the lovely ickle baby things.

But it does mean if we change our minds I can buy lovely NEW ickle baby things

See I'm not sure what to do.

Me and DP are only 22, none of us want to have more kids, well in the near future anyway, and we don't have particularly a lot of room to store things.

So we dont know whether to keep stuff or get rid.

If you're not sure re the more kids bit, then I would sell the stuff and stick the money into a seperate pot so if and when you do have another, the money is there. But keep any really lovely clothes that you care about.

CarGirl · 28/11/2008 10:06

If it is all fairly new stuff then it will sell now but if you keep it for 4 or 5 years it will look dated so it may be better to sell it now & recoup some money if you don't really have the storage room.

Anna8888 · 28/11/2008 10:07

Agree with CarGirl - it all dates really fast, so it is better to sell it or pass it on now.

mamadiva · 28/11/2008 10:08

Yeah I have been getting rid of bits and pieces, and at present I really dont want any more kids (well kind of and DP defo doesnt )

I gave away bags of stuff when my dd was about 2 as I realised that I was going to be overrun with stuff if I didn't do something. Her first car seat/pram and a stroller are in the loft and most of her big (plastic) toys are still in use albeit in the garden. The travelcot was thrown out I think - it had been bought for my niece for use at my parents house, ditto the highchair. I've kept her special clothes -first outfit and Christmas outfit, christening shoes etc.

mamadiva · 28/11/2008 10:11

I'm on my 3rd pram and I got rid of my big fancy pram and my stroller well thats gone thankfully but I still use my 3 wheeler not so sure would use it for NB anyway right enough.

Pass it on or sell it unless 2nd child is planned for near future . IF another child comes along you will already know people with children to buy/ recieve stuff from .

SpookyGrrrl · 30/11/2008 07:39

Kept most things after DS1 for DS2 (only 16mth gap) After DS2 is done with things i either sell the big stuff (pushchairs, playpens etc) or give away good condition clothing on freecycle. Usually the same lady asks for the clothes for her daughter, as she's a 20yr old single mother without much cash. Clothing that's stained or knackered i bin.

Spidermama · 30/11/2008 07:52

I always keep just one or two vital favourites then put the other stuff into the flow of free baby clothes that's going around safe in the knowlege I will benefit from it next time around.
