When do you give gripe water?

Should it be before a feed, in the middle or at end? Ds cries when bringing up wind, and also gets upset when straining to produce dirty nappies (and the various accompanying sounds-of which there are many over the day!) We already use infacol at start of feed, though Im not sure how effective it is..

Infacol didn't work for us, I found it too strong a taste for ds too.
We used gripe water quite a lot, it was brilliant.
I gave it after the feed as normally he wouldn't drink anymore if I stopped halfway through to wind him.
At times, I would give a spoon in the middle and another at the end if need be

Infacol didnt work for my ds either. Gripe water on the other hand was a god send!

I put a small amount into a dinky bottle and let him have a suckle on it as a when needed e.g. when he struggled to bring up any wind at the end of a feed. Much less messier in a dinky bottle and he enjoyed taking it too rather than it being a battle(health visitor said giving in a bottle was fine as long as it wasnt for a prolonged period of time)

Gripe water should also help with the dirty nappies - it has a lot of sugar in it so will help him to go easier.

Baby massage was also a god send for ds who had terrible colic and wind.

And I also found that switching to Dr Brown bottles helped with the wind and colic. Although I did lots of things at the same time so not 100% sure which one it was or whether a combination of all, but loads of people recommended dr browns bottles.
Also just out of interest, are you ff? And if so, are you warming milk? Lots of people give at room temp which is fine, but the warmer the milk, the easier the wind comes up. That's ther only reason I started warming up our milk.

I definately agree with little boy blue - dr brown bottles are great!

Another pointer, if you are ff, dont shake the bottle, stir it instead. It may seem common sense but by shaking the bottle adds a lot of bubbles that definately made my ds more uncomfortable.

If anyone recommends colief, or cow and gate comfort I would have to disagree - these made my ds much worse - but then every baby is different!

Yes I used gripe water afte the feed and used to get though bottles of the stuff. But use a nurofen syringe or similar to give it rather than a spoon as it's impossible to even poor it out of the bottle, let alone get it in to a small baby's mouth!

I did use infacol too and it definitely worked but took a while to kick in. Also used Dr Browns bottles just because they are recommended and it makes sense that because they are vented the baby doesn't get that pressure build up and then the release of bubbles.

Yes, the teats don't collapse in the mouth either with D.B. bottles
