it's been honking down here, it has. 5 month old dd is in the ergo (on the front) and she is getting so wet and blown about. any ideas? umbrella not really possible cos of shopping and three year old ds. also, we live on the coast and the streets are littered with skeletons of discarded umbrellas that have been blown inside out.

TIA.

Bushbaby all in one rainsuit for baby.

I may even have an old one in the attic somewhere

Wisknit · 24/11/2008 08:59

didymos do a waterproof with a bit for the baby too. iirc.

You can get special babywearing coats which go round you and baby with hoods for both. They seem to be about 60 quid on the second hand market (UKBabywearingSwap group on Yahoo, or Rumplebums forum)

Or buy a big waterproof/pinch DH's and just zip it up round both of you and put a fleece hat on baby

all-in-one for the baby.

A very large cagoule over the pair of you may well work though.

i always wore my dh rain coat...an outdoors style walking coat....do you have clue about what i'm on about??

this sort of thing

it was big enough to do up aroud the carrier, and i used to put my baby in an all in one fleecy with a hood, and leave the neck open a bit so as not to suffocate my boy!

its not ideal, but it did work well with all the carriers i've used...

We just used to wear a big winter coat or cagoule on top, do it up, and put a hat on the baby. It worked fine, the baby stayed warm and cosy. OK you looked a bit large and bulky but that's like being pregnant, so I was used to it.

Or the babies had all in one fleece suits - with mitten bits and foot bits - and all in one cagoule suits on top. Very cosy.

Thanks very much. I have had a scoot round, and think I may actually try a cycling cape for starters...

When DS was small, the Wilkinet raincover.

Now he's a massive toddler, Suse's Kinder babywearing rain poncho. Three hoods so you can wear one on back, one on front and all stay dry. It folds up tiny so I can stuff it in my bag just in case of rain.

Problem with an all in one rainsuit on the child is if they fall asleep and you want to carry on wearing them once you're indoors again.
