i really like the Phil & Teds Vibe, but its quite pricey and am not sure whether we'd get money's worth? ds1 will be 2yo when dc2 arrives (also not planning on any more!). how long would a 2yo need a buggy for? i read the buggy boards are more hassle than use??

any thoughts?

Why not wait and see? P&T's are v easy to get hold of in a hurry! My DD will be 2 yrs 1 month when DD2 born next March - I am planning on seeing if I can get by with my original buggy (a Babyjogger City Mini that I LOVE because I have to go everywhere in the car, we live in the middle of nowhere) and a sling. If I find that isn't working then I will go and fork out for a P&T.

Bought a double buggy but used it erm twice I think! Had a Moby Wrap www.baby-bean.com/moby-wrap-baby-carrier-p-77.html for baby and DD1 walked for short distances of went in pushchair for longer trips. Moby definitely worth the money, unlike the double buggy which cost about £100 each time I used it.

Don't bother buying a new Phil and Teds, buy a secondhand ebay one from someone who hardly used thers, new instantly loses value, you may not use it enough to match its devaluation, and plus it will get a bit trashed when toddler learns to "step on the brake" as my DD puts it !!! plus crumbs, mildew etc, etc

We had a secondhand one all summer in the lying-down baby position, first with coccon, then enormous DS just wedged into back pocket with blankets. Today tried out DS (6 months) sitting up in good old (second-hand) Bugaboo that has been sitting neglected in shed, with 2.5 DD walking/running next to me, and it worked fine. we hitched a few bus lifts during the day, but mostly was fine, she never once asked to go in pushchair or be picked up.

Word of advice: ALWAYS carry a sling to pop youngest into, even if you do have a double buggy. Sometimes they will scream for no apparent reason, yet will be soothed in a sling so although you may look an idiot with toddler walking next to empty buggy while you carry baby and push said empty buggy, it is worth a bit of peace and quiet.

I did buy my slings new, should have followed my own advice, but actually I have used them a lot, so not too foolish there....

My DD just turned 2 and now wants to walk everywhere with no prompting from me. I'm due no.2 when she is 2 years 4 months and by the time I recover from my c-section she will be nearly 2.5 so I've decided to buy a second hand buggy, a new sling, and probably a new single double buggy too that I can push with one hand and is lightweight and attach a buggyboard. I live in a town centre so I don't do hours of buggy time anyway.

Buying a new P&T (a new version cheaper than the vibe but more expensive than the sport - dash I think its called is out very soon) you probably won't lose that much money buying and selling a year later. i don't like the position of the baby or second child though.
