Does potty training affect their sleep?

DS started potty training on Friday and has been doing very well. However his sleep is all over the place.

He slept for ages yesterday sitting on my lap (which he never ever does) and was awake for large parts of the night refusing to stay in his bed and demanding to sleep in ours.

Is there any connection or is it just coincidence?

I didn't have that problem with either of mine, sounds like its probably coincidence.

never was a problem for us.

Development can upset their sleep patterns, but I think by now you'd know if it were a norm for your DS. It's more likely teething pain, ear infection, tummy ache, etc. etc.

DS has just started using the potty of his own choice (he's 2.5) but it coincided with increased hugs and clingyness to me - I think he's realised he is a big boy but wants the reassurance of his mum still. He also started waking in the night asking to go to the potty - perhaps your DS is doing the same but on waking wants a hug too so comes to your room?

ontheup that is exactly what's happened! He has never really bothered about cuddles on my knee before but does at the moment. I think the fact that DC2 is shortly to arrive is adding to the anxiety. Poor little mite.

Oh well, more cuddles for me!
