He has scarves, PJS, new slippers, aftershave, undies etc... from last year he hasnt even used yet and says he doesnt want anything this year.

I have to get him something but what? Any suggestions of something I could do.

My LO is 3.8 yrs so was thinking of getting a lovely up to day pic for him in a nice frame

I bought my dad some books with old O level & 11 plus questions in them - my dad likes stuff like that

But a photo is lovely

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 16/11/2008 20:51

yes that would be great

or take a christmas pic of them together and frame?

That's a lovely idea, or what about one of these presents for Africa (or wherever). You know the ones, a chicken or a goat! Help the aged do some good ones, or oxfam

Parents are such a pain when they do this, aren't they? My parents are the same, although this year my dad has asked for a garlic crusher!! Exciting stuff.

A nice framed picture sounds lovely. How about buying a plain frame and having lo decorate it with pasta shells and glitter etc.
My ds is 15 months and this year as money is tight, I bought a christmas themed colouring book and we both did a bit of colouring and I've laminated them and will give one to each family member and maybe start a little tradition.

A picture sounds a good idea. If you want to give him more than that, I'd say get him something "disposable" that you know he likes and will use - some nice cheese and crackers, his favourite biscuits, a bottle of whisky maybe, or something like that.

petitmaman · 16/11/2008 20:59

I was going to say the goat thing. or any sort of day out, a go in a race car experience type thing or a meal at the local pub with you/someone else that is appropriate?

he likes Bell's Whisky - doesnt like malt so may see if they do a limited edition or a christmas gift box or something

My family decided this year that we didn't want to exchange gifts among the adults. Instead we are each kicking in some money to donate a pig to the heifer project.

jabberwocky · 16/11/2008 21:20

oops, just noticed this has already been suggested

mummatoone · 16/11/2008 22:39

Ive found a History of Whisky fact and funnies...I think he would like this - on offer at Amazon at £4.00 plus will get him a pic of his beautiful grandson! Whilst on Amazon found a great book for huby aswell...all free del.

How about a mug with a photo of you and LO on, or take LO to a pottery painting place and let them paint one for him. A magazine subscription might go down well too if there's something he's into (have done Readers Digest and National Geographic for my dad in the past).
