what are you worried about and what are you busy doing?

How about setting a timer for half an hour in the morning and in the afternoon and during that time you sit down on the floor with your LO and 'play'. Just see what happens - he may bring books to you or you end up in a bit of rough and tumble or hiding under cushions etc etc but it is YOUR time with him and a time where all other jobs are on hold. That way, when he goes to bed, you will know that you've had 2 sessions of quality time with him that day.

And for what it's worth - we all feel exactly as you describe

Never let what you see at playgroup make you feel bad! People put on a show for playgroup and it can really make you feel compared and judged.

I agree take a breather, one day instead of playgroup sit at home and let your DS decide what to play with, or go for a stroll and let him dictate the pace. Is there a reason why you have to be in a hurry?

Do you feel worried/down all the time? About looking after DS or just generally? GP might be able to help with this as well, if you're suffering from anxiety.

Bumbly - I worry incessantly too, and sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all. I went on an anxiety management course at the beginning of the year, which helped me, but I do find trying to keep things in perspective a somewhat constant battle.
