How bad is it to plonk baby infront of TV the MINUTE he wakes up while I shower...

DD is a rearly light sleeper and her room is just off ours and DS is in our room - anyway - that aside, even him cooing and gurgling will wake her up. After months of her waking at 5am, she now goes to 7-8am (hoorah). DS wakes any time from 5:45am. Ideally I would let him sing in his cot for a while as I think it's good for him to have the space to wake up slowly as it were and for him not to associate me coming the second he makes a noise. BUT I end up shooting out of bed, scooping him up, nappy change downstairs and plonking him down in front of the TV while I go and get showered before DD wakes up.

Should I really just let him sing until he actively wants attention or protect DDs sleep?

Whatever it takes to get showered and dressed in relative calm

I did this for up to half an hour if I needed to do something like shower and dry hair or get something in the oven for supper.

The key with babies is to do what you need to do to keep yourself reasonably sane.

hello, my ds is 15 months old and every morn when she wakes i change her nappy plonk her in her buggy, give her a bottle of milk, switch on cbeebies and go get ready for work, then i get her ready have a wee play together and out we go. she is happy enough with this arrangement and i think its not a prob as she knows the routine and it makes it so much easier to get out in the morn.

as long as he is not distressed then i wouldnt give it a 2nd thought

The trouble is that I'm not convinced that he's actually finished sleeping and he would probably drop off again in half an hour but by that time DD would have been woken up.
