2 year old biting a sleeping child in the cheek

No provocation had preceded it...Is that completely normal behaviour? How would you deal with it?

A good friend's dd did this to my ds. My friend was in the kitchen at the time and didn't even know it happened, and I didn't say anything about it. But I wondered whether I should have?

Didn't your ds wake up? Is he the same age? I would prob have said 'that's not very nice' and moved the dd away. Either said loudly 'we don't bite people, dd' so the mum could hear, or ask her to say sorry. Depends on child, really. And comfort my ds of course. Actually thinking about it I prob wouldhave carried him downstairs and comforted him saying, i'm sure she didn't mean to (and then say to friend, oh dd bit him... i'm sure she was just playing...).

But yes, normal behaviour. 2 year olds are weird (I know, I have one - thankfully non-bitey though )

Yes ds did wake up but my friend didn't know why.

I have three children and none of them has ever done something like this, but I'm sure it's just a phase.

My DS would sometimes get a bit confused at this age and bite instead of kissing. Then be very upset when you got cross as he was trying to be affectionate....
